Interesting mixture

Tom Petty, the much-loved American rock star who passed away in October, died from an accidental drug overdose, it was revealed on Friday.

The music legend, best known for hits such as “Free Fallin'” and “American Girl”, died at the age of 66 after a “mixed toxicity” of a variety of medications, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office said.

Dana and Adria Petty, his wife and daughter, shared the results of the autopsy, which revealed the presence in his body of fentanyl, oxycodone, temazepam, alprazolam, citalopram, acetyl fentanyl, and despropionyl fentanyl.

“Unfortunately Tom’s body suffered from many serious ailments including emphysema, knee problems and most significantly a fractured hip,” they said in a statement.

“Despite this painful injury he insisted on keeping his commitment to his fans and he toured for 53 dates with a fractured hip and, as he did, it worsened to a more serious injury.

Sounds a bit Michael Jackson to have been getting all those from the doctors, doesn’t it?

  1. I hope poor old Ant from Ant and Dec don’t go the same way.

They are Britains favourite TV stars..yet I still have to think which one his which, Dec is the cheeky chappie that winks and Ant is the odd looking one who looks like he has a nasty temper.

I reckon Ant will soon have some blonde beauty from” Geordie Shore” as his new partner who will rise to superstar celebrity too.

  2. So Much For Subtlety

The fentanyl was presumably for pain, or perhaps fun. As with the oxycodone. Temazepam is a benzodiazepines, and is usually given for anxiety or insomnia. Hard to believe he had a problem sleeping with all that fentanyl. Alprazolam is the polite name for Xanax, so anxiety again? Temazepam is one of the more abused drugs in its class because it acts so fast. Xanax, I don’t know. Citalopram is a serious anti-depressant.

The acetyl fentanyl and despropionyl fentanyl are odd. Does anyone mix them in one pill? Three different doctors gave him script for all three? I would think it is more likely that the Fentanyl was illegal and was a mix of a variety of things.

Certainly he had a very generous doctor somewhere. How many prescriptions do you need for all that?

So it looks like he was in it for the fun and not the pain.

  3. Rickie–I can only hope that you are taking the piss and that your post above does not represent the habitual content of your consciousness.

Millions of years of evolutionary struggle and suffering to reach the highlands of worrying about two timewasting TV twats and which skank(s) they are presently making deposits in. Not a good return on Nature’s investment.

  4. I think Ant is taking the piss out of us, he can give the missus £31 million to fuck off, yeah he is on the left now you mention it…same as Morcombe did with Wise

The boys have done well you have to admit, let’s face it the voice over man on “come dine with me” has more talent and no-one knows who he is.

Surely you mean God’s evolution plan and not Nature’s investment, that sound a bitty hippy to me….I agree anyway Mr Ecks.

  5. Yep, Ant and Dec always stand the same way, reading left to right, Ant and Dec. It’s almost as if the producers know that we can’t remember which one is which. Both rubbish in my opinion, but there you go. (Always loved that bit in Love Actually, when the Bill Nighy character says “well, Ant or Dec” )
