Aren’t you glad we’re leaving?

Latest EU nonsense here.

  1. I see so this is why the UK was such free place and a free economy in the 50s 60s and 70s , thats probably why we out performed our peer Nations at the time.

  2. The return of Facepainter.

You need your own show–Treason at the End of the Peer.

The light nonsense indicates exactly what kind of crawling worm you are. The kind that would abase himself before brazen scum who–as PJ O’Rourke put it (before he dropped his marbles into a bourbon glass)–“would boss the grass in the meadow about which way to bend in the breeze”.

We need more posts Tim. There is a lot going on in the world but even the semi-silent halls of Contins seem to have few important topics being posted there.

  3. We need more praise for those forms of international cooperation which were not initiated by the EU. Eurovision, UEFA, the Postal Union, the Space Agency, the Barcelona Convention, the EEA Agreement, that sort of thing.

Has anyone done a study on the profession of town councillors? I’m guessing that shop owner, height street property owner and estate agent feature quite high on that list and we should dismiss whingeing about the end of the high street as vested interests realising the golden goose is dying.

Where I live in UK councillors are mostly lawyers, like HoC.

  5. Tim omits tech and comments on CT on LED lighting are terrible (Spike)

A quick guide, not a technical paper

    1. Manufacturers can not meet EU demands of lumens per watt

    2. Dimming is rarely achieved by reducing number of LEDs illuminated – too complex PCB & electronics.
LEDs are <5v and use PWM for brightness, not voltage.
Cree & other "dimable" LED arrays interpret supply voltage reduction to illuminate each LED for less time – more electronics, not diff LEDs.

  6. ‘Aren’t you glad we’re leaving?’

Yeah, sure you are. I think that if you were going to leave, you would have already.

‘You don’t need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
    And get yourself free’

  7. So Much For Subtlety

I don’t know. I am warming to the EU all of a sudden.

How amateur does Amateur Dramatics have to be before you do not want to immediately punch them in the face? I mean, Patrick Stewart? Imminently punchable. Benedict Cumberbatch and even more so Martin Freeman? Almost a social duty.

So bring it on I say. They wanted more Europe. Please God, give them more Europe.

  8. Surely they should be given a wattage allocation by the power magement board (lighting sub-committee) for their ward to spend as they see fit?

  9. Great, so they weren’t happy with simply trying to fuck up my eyesight at home (I ignored them and bought lots of 100 watt bulbs) now they want to finish the job by extending their stupidity to my workplace.

  10. So Much For Subtlety

Rocco Siffredi – “The last time I looked, Stewart, Cumberbatch, Freeman played for pay”

Sure. I can see that perhaps I was not clear. At the bottom end of the amateur market there are people like my niece putting on her school play. They do not get paid. They are not ar$eholes. At the top end of the market, they are full professionals. They all tend to be ar$eholes.

Somewhere in between is the dividing line where they stop being fairly normal people and become fairly annoying. So how far down do you have to go to cross that line?

  11. Worked in a new building that was built to be LEED gold standard or whatever it is these days, the designers seemed to have forgotten that its purpose was to house people and that people could be considered part of the environment.
