Who else if not Jacinda?

Jacinda Ardern is the very hero the global left needs right now
Van Badham

Guess so really. She’s had enough time to talk the talk but not enough for us to see the outcome of anything she’s done.

There isn’t really anyone else. All the other global lefty heroes have ha enough time for the results to become clear which is a bit of a pity as they’re near universally shit.

  1. It has been bliss, this past week, to hide myself away and listen to nothing other than talkSport – Ally McCoist and the lads – discussing the World Cup, fishing, drinking and whoring.

  2. So she has gone on maternity leave–thus scamming the voters–and given her kid some Maori name (Chairman Mao-ri?)and this makes her a leftist hero?

  3. ‘Ardern is the first elected world leader to ever go on maternity leave. Of this, former NZ Labour prime minister Helen Clark noted: “These are the kinds of practical arrangements working women make the world over – the novelty here is that it is a prime minister who is making them. The signal this sends, however, is that this is life in the 21st century.”’

‘Local NZ commentator, Michelle Duff, lauded the events of Ardern’s maternity as a national achievement, writing, “Let’s just take a moment to appreciate that we, as a nation, have pushed the boundaries and created an environment where this can happen.”’

Decadence. NZ doesn’t need a full time PM.

‘The signal this sends, however, is that this is life in the 21st century.’

    No, not really.

  4. ‘“The emerging electoral majority that already dominates the party and will soon dominate the country,” he observed “(is) progressive, young, female and nonwhite.’

Nah, not really. This is maybe 4% of the population.

  5. Bloke in North Dorset

Slightly OT but to with government failures. I see the the government owned NI Water has managed start running out of water and has implemented a hose pipe ban.

Great advert for the Courageous State’s ability to plane and implement infrastructure projects.

  6. Jacinda spends all her time visiting schools and on photoshoots. Her government is an unbelievable shitshow. They have no idea how to do anything they said they would do. Their core policy was to deal with the housing shortage by building 100,000 homes in three years. 9 months in they have built zero and say they hope to build 5,000 next year.

  7. Jacinda has no idea what she is doing and neither do the rest of her government. They have devastated an entire region by banning any further oil and gas exploration, all to make a green point. As far as the housebuilding programme is concerned, New Zealand does not have the necessary numbers of tradies to build them . There is talk of importing the necessary tradesmen but of course there is nowhere for them to live whilst building the new houses. It does not help that NZ insists on housebuilding one stick at a time, out on site and in all weathers.

They won’t because that will enrage WinstonFirst, unless he is getting a cut.

“.It does not help that NZ insists on housebuilding one stick at a time, out on site and in all weathers.”

I know a lot of people who have tried to move this model to pre-fab and no one has ever succeed. The economics are simply not there. The way planning and site development works means it’s extremely difficult to develop larger multi-dwelling sites.

A friend of mine did a 30 house site which had over $3m in planning and environment court costs, and that is with a sale price of $550k each. More than 20% of the cost was legal wrangling and council antics.

And now that those costs are baked in, all those home owners are not going to tolerate any serious effort that threatens the capital they have tied up in the game.

To be fair, National made claims about a desire to resolve this ‘crisis’, and followed exactly the same policy i.e. say it’s all terrible and do nothing while hoping something will change.

We work for quite a few major Chinese developers doing high rise apartments, and they have all got cold feet as a result of the Labour ‘no Chinese please’ messages.
