Make way for Women Fest, Britain’s first ever all-women festival, billed as an event of radical participation that aims to explore the “power and magic” that happens when women gather together, and the impact it can have on the wider world.
After a year of sexual politics dominated by women’s marches and the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements, the festival hopes to bring together 400 women on a farm outside Frome in Somerset in August.

Surely men simply need to claim that they identify as a woman.
Most women I know who to to festivals really rather like the loud indie music; it’s rather the point of them going to them. (Those who don’t tend to want of rock…)
Men only is sexiest/patriarchy/etc but women only is fine because reasons.

On a similar theme the Economist has an article about a women only holiday resort in Finland and various women only clubs that are opening. Apparently this is to allow women to network, which strikes me as bizarre.
If there is a glass ceiling* then women need to network with men who are on their way up and also with men at the top. All they’re doing is creating some sort of business apartheid.
* For the avoidance of doubt I don’t think there is, the apparent glass ceiling is because people at the top are older and from an era when women didn’t start careers so the pool is quite small.

Only getting that many women together in one place without any men to restrain them is sure to lead to plenty of trouble.
Some European music festivals have been cancelled due to the shall we say ‘hands-on’ activities of certain men of no particular appearance. I suspect that this could be an attempt to avoid accusations of racism by dehumanising all men instead of the actual perps.
A bit like airport security.

There’s actually quite a few of those things all over Europe nowadays, following the rise of neopaganism and all that. And there are several who are specific for women, because they heavily focus on the Female Divine and that stuff. Not really interesting to blokes.
Most of that type event are actually mixed, with about equal attention paid to the Male Spirit. Sweat lodges, chanting, spirit dances, that sort of thing.

Also, women just don’t take risks like men do, aren’t obsessive like men are and have a lower threshold for disgust as men. A lot of huge tech companies are full of male management because a lot of them joined early and did a good job. If you’re head of customer services when you’ve got a handful of customers and keep doing a good job when you hit 10,000 or a million customers, no-one is going to fire you.
