Intriguing economics

Actually, the dollar is entirely to blame in that case…

But you want to make it pure anti-socialist politics

I am clear that the Venezuelan government has made many mistakes from not floating the Bolivar, to not effectively managing the economy onwards, to not controlling the shadow economy, not collecting tax and allowing a shadow market for the currency to be rampant

But that still comes down to the dollar undermining the local currency as a primary issue

If the Venezuelan government fucks everything, but everything, up then it’s the Americans’ fault because they didn’t? So people will trust the $ in a way they won’t the bolivar?

So what was the main cause of the problems in Venezuela?

The dollar

  1. Blame the Dollar, because the Dollar is to blame.

Incidentally, he can back up his theory by pointing to all those other countries with now worthless currencies, because the Dollar is to blame?

  2. If it wasn’t for those pesky West Germans producing fancy BMWs and Mercs the East Germans would have been quite happy with their Trabants………..

  3. The Venezuela post is I believe his best ever. And give the serious, serious competition, I arrive at that conclusion hesitantly.

His answer: “blame the dollar”, is far better than his answer to the man originally putting the question: “you are a right-wing troll”.

  4. As i said on a previous thread if he’s serious about getting back in corbyn’s good books and getting (v)ermine he needs to up his game – and start talking about “a world wide secret financial cabal”/”international jewish bankers conspiracy” etc. Honestly toadying up to the scottish poison dwarf or the eu might get him a well paid sinecure , but not the recognition he craves. he’s too stupid to even notice the opportunity.

  5. Moqifen

Whomever Bob is he has done brilliantly here. I am not sure the SNP will think getting the date of the Act of Union wrong ‘mere pendantry’

The UK did not exist in 1694.

I think that scores a point in pedantry corner

Not if you’re Scots it doesn’t

I confess I cannot follow your logic – but that is because when I moderate I cannot see what you are replying to’

Ironman – There’s stiff competition but I would put it in his top five – just sheer madness on every level

  6. Have to agree with Ironman and VP that the Venez post is classic Murphy fare, deliciously garnished by his asinine and irascible comments.

Were we dealing with a normal individual I would assume it could not be topped for sheer cretinous glory. However, with Murphy, we are dealing with an “unusual” or perhaps “special” (in modern social work department terms) individual, so I expect his exponential path to final and permanent detention in an institution to continue.

Also impressive that a number of fifth columnist posters have survived Murphy’s periodic culls on “trolls” and are still plugging away in the comments there. Well done all.

  7. Bloke in Costa Rica

Venezuela’s problems are the same as those of every other socialist country that degenerated into a hellhole: handing control of industry to loyal but incompetent cronies and attempting to permanently perturb the price of things away from the market-clearing rate. They could have been using bolivars, dollars, cowrie shells or Victoria’s Secret gift cards to trade with and the result would be the same. We all know that. Murphy probably knows it too, but he’s far too much of a whore to admit it.

  8. At some point we need to stop crediting socialists with good faith and being merely mistaken and start treating them as the informed, willing agents of evil that they are. RM knows he is full of shit, he is deliberately deceitful in order to provide air cover to the latest socialist catastrophe on the ground.

You’ve forgotten the child benefit – or maybe the child’s mother gets that and tiffin just buys the baby milk.
