We seem to have a call for national censorship here. The reason, the true one not given, being:
That Corbynite free lollipops for everyone promise is in direct competition for the support of exactly those same people that “far right” is chasing with stories of Heimat. The white British working class, exactly the group in play as an electoral base at present.
Owen Jones just wants to ban the competition. How liberal of him, eh?
Owen realises they are chasing the same voter base but is simultaneously too thick and pig-ignorant to understand why the first act of the Nazis in power was to ban the communists.
The communists would, of course, have done the same to the Nazis had they got there first.
The problem is that these people really don’t have a prayer winning extra working class vote. You start attending funerals for terrorists, you turn those people right off. You want even more immigration, you turn those people right off. You bang on about stuff like Israel and Windrush, they don’t care.
The poorest ward in our constituency is Con/Con/Lab. Labour are stronger in one of the better-off areas, stuffed full of professions seeking protection and public sector workers.
Of course he’s banned comments on his articles in the Guardian – it’s a start as far as he is concerned. Vile screeching little wannabe corbyn’s fleshlight.
Labour are stronger in one of the better-off areas, stuffed full of professions seeking protection and public sector workers.
Yarp. Note, Labour’s hold over the white working class has been slipping – even in former strongholds like Scotland and Wales – for 20 years now.
A generation ago, working class people strongly identified with Labour by default. If you were a Tory or A.N. Other party activist, canvassing in a Labour stronghold felt like being lost in Injun territory.
That is no longer the case – Labour is the party of latte-sipping Guardianistas, obnoxious students with bespoke gender pronouns, and their migrant pets.
Their scorn for beer-drinking, Wetherspoons-frequenting, football-supporting Northern white men is palpable. Not that this is new – Orwell wrote about the curious snobbishness of socialists nearly 100 years ago. What’s new(ish) is that Labour’s new base doesn’t try to hide its hostility towards heterosexual white men and Christians.
This represents an incredible opportunity for an actual conservative/right-wing party. Similar to how Thatcher and Trump peeled off patriotic, ambitious, socially conservative working class voters and won stunning electoral victories.
But instead, we have a “conservative” government that wants to ban cars.
“Labour is the party of latte-sipping Guardianistas, obnoxious students with bespoke gender pronouns, and their migrant pets.”
Labour also gets the benefits vote…
To Owen, anyone who doesn’t support the destruction of Western Civilisation is ‘Far Right’.
“Labour is the party of latte-sipping Guardianistas….”:
Who would be serving our coffee in Pret?’
Steve: A decade ago I was gobsmacked to build up a 20% vote from almost nothing in the 5th-ish safest Labour seat in the country by the simple expedient of campaigning and putting out fairly bland leaflets. Since then the second place is still a steady 20% swapping between UKIP and Con.
