And if you cant reveal your intimate concerns to your own mother than who can you?
NatWest has apologised after a mother was denied a loan during a phone call and after revealing she was a vegan told that they should all “be punched in the face”.
The bank said it had suspended a male call handler, who has worked at one of its southern call centres for between five and six years.
It has admitted the outburst took place and was “wholly inappropriate”.
The mother, who was applying for a loan of £400 for a nutrition course, said she was left shocked and upset when the man went on a rant about vegans during her loan application on January 23.
Ah, That is different. Assume it’s because his bird has stopped giving him steak…..
The fact that it’s true doesn’t mean you can say it if you work in a call centre.

What difference doe it make that she’s a mother? Is it ok to say it to a women with no children?

Perhaps if she ate a bit of meat occasionally she wouldn’t need the nutrition course.
I suspect that anyone asking for a £400 loan to attend a nutrition course would be shown short shrift, vegan or not.
Meanwhile, and please permit me to engage in a bit of whataboutery here, I suspect that a call handler who railed against Brexit or white privilege wouldn’t have suffered the same fate.
It seems to me that any reasonable person who is obliged to be nice and tactful and stick to the script when dealing with the general public is eventually going to crack. Being fired is a reward for them, a relief from tyranny.

Apparently vegans have been plastering his neighbourhood in anti-meat graffiti. The bastards used to do the same round here to harass our local butcher.
I assume the staff member knew she was vegan because when she called them she said: “Hello, I’m vegan. I want a bank loan”

How can you know whether a stranger you meet for the first time is a vegan? If they are, they’ll tell you.
The guy had been unreasonably harassed by vegan activists. That doesn’t mean all vegans should be punched in the face.

The multiple references to her birth canal’s history made me think it had something, anything to do with the story somehow. Now I’ve given a click to the telegraph and am no closer to an explanation than before.

The US arm of one company I worked for had a massive NJ call centre ‘boiler room’ selling investment over the phone. Part of the incentive plan was that if you made the top 10% of sales in any three months, you got promoted to going out on the road (with the potential for a lot more money). But some people were regularly successful, yet chose to stay in the call centre. It takes all sorts!
