We provide NHS-funded and self-funded abortion and vasectomy” A so-called “charity” named after a notorious Eugenecist that exists only to abort babies and (very much secondary) sterilise males. Gamecock March 23, 2019 at 4:02 pm ‘ALL CHILDREN HAVE THE RIGHT TO EXIST, LOVE AND BE LOVED’ Odd concepts. Children who exist exist. What’s ‘rights’ got to do with it? Right to love? HUH? What does that mean? To be loved? Again, what does that mean? Carrie Marshall is spouting empty, meaningless platitudes. Dennis the Peasant March 23, 2019 at 4:48 pm Anyone told the feminists? Theophrastus March 23, 2019 at 5:53 pm GC + 1 Rob March 23, 2019 at 5:59 pm All the children women decide can live have the right to exist, etc. More accurate. NiV March 23, 2019 at 6:02 pm Anyone told the Onanists? Steve March 23, 2019 at 7:44 pm We must stand together to fight for a world where everyone is accepted for who they are Even racists? Also, if Gary Marshall had accepted himself for who he was, he wouldn’t have changed his name to “Carrie” at the age of 44 after fathering children, now would he? Stonyground March 23, 2019 at 7:56 pm Further to my previous post about having read the Bible, the story of Onan is often misrepresented. According to ancient Jewish custom, if your brother died without an heir, it was your duty to impregnate his wife. For reasons known only to himself, Onan shagged his brother’s wife but pulled out at the last moment and spilled his seed upon the ground. This act of disobedience earned Onan a thunderbolt to the head. This one single Bible story has been used ever since to justify religious opposition to masturbation. Steve March 23, 2019 at 8:05 pm Stonyground – Funny how names fall out of fashion. Not many “Onans”, “Judases” or “Adolfs” going about these days. NiV March 23, 2019 at 10:14 pm “Even racists?” Yes. “‘If we don’t believe in freedom of expression for people we despise, we don’t believe in it at all.” But that goes both ways. “For reasons known only to himself, Onan shagged his brother’s wife but pulled out at the last moment and spilled his seed upon the ground.” The reason was probably that any male child he raised would inherit the estate of Onan’s brother Er, in place of Onan who as oldest brother was first in line to inherit. “This act of disobedience earned Onan a thunderbolt to the head. This one single Bible story has been used ever since to justify religious opposition to masturbation.” And then of course there’s Leviticus 15, which imposes no penalty more serious than a cold shower. But religion doesn’t have to make sense, and Christians don’t pay all that much attention to OT rules, unless it suits them. Prohibitions in the early Christian Church seem to have only appeared about the 4th or 5th century AD, when they started monastic orders. I sneeze in threes March 24, 2019 at 1:36 pm Never mind Jordan Peterson’s biblical lectures, let’s get Boris Johnson to narrate the story of Onan so he can say how he “spaffed upon the ground. I wonder what Boris night say instead of begat? bloke in spain March 24, 2019 at 2:10 pm Rights are a difficult area, other than in the legal sense. A moral right cannot exist without a matching obligation. So you’re saying there’s an obligation for a child to exist. Why? john 77 March 25, 2019 at 10:56 pm @ bis There is an obligation upon all of us to give a child a chance to exist because he/she is human. The Grauniad has no concept of logic or of the obligation imposed on its readers by its demands that other readers have “rights”. My obligation stretches from not driving my car into/over the child via paying taxes to fund the NHS, police etc to (for Christians) contributing (in ascending order) money/time/skills to help it survive. There is no obligation upon the child to exist. Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
