One for yesterday perhaps

You know, equal whatever day:

Mothers worldwide no longer run a one-in-six chance of dying in childbed.

Ain’t this globalised free market capitalism just so patriarchal?

  1. I’m sure the argument goes “They died because of postpartum fever spread by male doctors not washing their hands after the mortuary. Before that, when midwives delivered at home, the death rate was a lot lower”

  2. Thanks to the socialised NHS, that is.

Private healthcare would have the mothers forced to give up their children to workhouses, just to pay the hospital bill. Evil capitalist countries like Donald Trump’s America are full of penniless mothers who had to give up all their worldly belongings just to birth a child.
