Sadiq Khan is absolutely right here

We are in the middle of a battle for Britain’s soul. On one side are those who want our country to continue to be forward looking, open to the world, tolerant, inclusive and progressive. On the other, those who want to pit our communities against each other, undo the social progress painstakingly made over decades, and who advocate a politics of division.

Therefore vote Brexit Party.

  1. “Nigel Farage embodies a strain of destructive far-right politics – masquerading as anti-establishment populism – which has poisoned our national discourse and unleashed a torrent of lies, division and hatred within our society. He promises impossibly simple solutions to incredibly complex problems and, rather than addressing people’s concerns, he preys on their fears.”

That anyone who hails from the party of Tony Blair and Alastair Campbell – ’45 minutes’ and ‘weapons of mass destruction’ – can say this with a straight face is pretty galling.

  2. Apparently the campaign to Remain in the EU was the only one in more than 2,000 years of democratic voting, during which no lies were told. It must be true, I read it in The Guardian.

  3. Well he has induced a torrent of lies, think of project fear. Indeed listen to Sadiq Khan.
It appear that as hominem arguments are the only ones used in politics these days, except for appeals to authority.
Which IMHO is why polls these days always underrate the support for the non-establishment view. Some people dodge the sneering when it doesn’t matter, but vote their own way in secret.

This is less problematic when you have two at your disposal.

  5. The Great Khan says:

” Many are using the same methods from the old far-right playbook. Picking on minority communities and the marginalised in order to manufacture an enemy. ”

” Think about Boris Johnson describing Muslim women as “letterboxes”, Sajid Javid singling out “Asian” child-grooming gangs, Zac Goldsmith’s campaign in the last London mayoral election – widely condemned as Islamophobic. ”

    tl;dr:

Asian Muslim objects to people noticing the behaviour of Asian Muslims.

It’s funny how many of Sadiq’s voters want exactly none of these things for their ancestral homelands, or even the little enclaves they’ve established in Britain, tho.

Fuck me, that’s EXACTLY what cultural marxists, SJWs and those idiot ‘professors’ n lecturers in the clown-quarter of academia have been doing for decades now!

  8. Even after the utter fucking awfulness of T May, I still think that the only PM of recent times who needs a good hanging is Toni Blair.

  9. Dehumanizing your opposition makes it not only okay to ignore them, but to kill them.

Khan is saying it is okay to kill you.

  10. Mr Ecks – Yarp. One of the features of populism in Current Year is that media and establishment attacks only strengthen the populist electoral position.

We saw this with the Trump campaign, where every smear job slid off the Teflon Don while simultaneously giving him free publicity, and in the Brexit referendum where foul-mouthed celebrity Remainers and po-faced establishment “expert” scolding only fuelled the “Fuck You” vote.

The important thing, which legacy conservatives never understood but the new populists implicitly do, is never to accept the enemy’s framing.

No, Andrew Marr isn’t some sort of authority you need to justify yourself to, he’s (Butt) Plug from the Bash Street Kids grown into a hideous, Gorgon-featured hypocrite who pretended to be a journalist while obtaining a super-injunction to prevent actual journalists reporting about him literally bumping uglies while cheating on his wife.

  11. Populist = popular.

To win a FPTP contest you have to be more popular than anyone else.

Therefore anyone who gets more votes than anyone else and wins an election is merely a populsit and therefore an useless piece of shit who should be ignored.

Funnily enough, all the people who push this line of argument called me a racist when I said this on 1/5/97 and on 2/6/2001 and on 2/5/2005.

    Funny old life…

  12. I see Burger King have decided to side against Tommy Robinson and Patrick O’Flynn and with the woke who support violence, so I’ll be taking my business elsewhere in future.

The persecution continues: I often think I’m living in USSR or 1940 Germany.

I look back at 1980’s freedom and ask “What, Why, How …. happened?” Blair?

imo this is co-ordinated attack on TR approved by May, Javid & Cox

  14. “The important thing, which legacy conservatives never understood but the new populists implicitly do, is never to accept the enemy’s framing.”

The problem is that the legacy conservatives really want to be in with the enemy.

I used to think that people like May and Cameron were doing a miscalculated bit of PR by sucking up to The Guardian and spitting in the face of UKIP supporters, but it’s really that they’re like The Guardian. The “cuts” in spending aren’t philosophical. They didn’t slow down spending to give people more money in their pocket. They slowed down spending because the country was broke.

They want to be liked by the readers of The Guardian because that’s what they also believe in. They’re sorry they can’t be more Guardian than they already are.

And when you see people like Hannan, JRM, Liz Truss, it’s worth noting that these are now a tiny minority of that party. Most of them are blue socialists like Cameron (largely due to his A list engineering).
