Seriously weird idea

UK shamed as Europe’s biggest market for sex slaves

It’s unlikely to be largest market for immigrants who then sell sex. Germany, Spain, that’s legal. You expect to have more of what’s legal.

Actually, it’s legal in the UK but brothels aren’t etc.

And imagine that it really is true. Proper sex slavery. Then that would indicate that Spain, Germany, have less of it – where brothels etc are legal.

Can’t really see any way that this supports the standard feminist narrative. Also, can’t see the full report, maybe someone else has reported on it too…..

  1. Absolute shite.

Can only read 1st para but even that is bull-crap.

16 year old Romainian girls gets married and moves into a new apartment in Italy. Then the horror begins…

1–She was happy to exploit what she thought was a ticket to unearned–or lets say vaginally earned–prosperity anyway. The v-earnings were to have been on her terms–ie marriage–but vearnings they still were to have been.
2- How much set up money and time would that have cost the supposed “pimp” etc. Wooing=likely expensive–even the whirlwind type and then a wedding–prob in some style if she has a family. A lot of costs to recoup from a reluctant prossie. Yes you can beat and terrorise some female to submit–but (apart from a few sickos-a small market) most males would want a show of desire and enthusiasm (however synthetic) not terror and revulsion. Even if this baloney scenario did happen it would be a recipe for going out of business not prospering.

I’m not going into more detail. Go read the Honest Courtesan blog if you want chapter and verse on why “sex trafficking” is more Marxist feminist fish-shit.

  2. Nothing to do with the demand produced by a large immigrant population of men with no women. Nothing at all.

  3. “”Maria*, 16 at the time, is just one of thousands of Romanian teenagers lured into debt bondage and exploitation by trafficking gangs operating with impunity across Europe.”

    This is bollocks.

People do get prosecuted in this country for this, and they tend to get prosecuted rather quickly.

If you’re a slavery entrepreneur, the last thing you would do is sex work. Sex work means the slave meeting lots of strangers. Strangers who might sense something is awry, and call the police. You want them chained to a kitchen sink, or picking crops out in the fens, miles from anywhere else.

On top of that, it isn’t hard to make a margin running a brothel. We prosecute people who’ve made shitloads of money out of running one. Why bother hiring slaves when there’s plenty of desperate single mothers around?

“And yet still the legend persists.”

Because it’s very important to a lot of people – looking at you, Julie Bindel, et al – that it persists.

And with this, and the same propoganda in countless other media organs, the general public is led to believe that it is true.

  5. Pat,

I do know of a case. Woman got brought over. Lasted 2 weeks before the old bill arrived.

And that’s as good as crime gets. You’re never going to stop the odd moron committing a crime they’ll likely get caught for. Nearly all men who murder their wives end up in jail. Doesn’t stop the odd idiot bumping off his wife.

    They always win because:

    (1) We can’t can’t prove a negative

    (2) To paraphrase – if someone’s livelihood and status relies on them not believing something, they won’t.

And, most importantly, they hold the megaphone*, we don’t.

  8. The fact that the squareheaded autists of Germany have legalised the vag trade just goes to show we’re right not to decriminalise brothels, no?

Imagine if “sex work” was normalised. What’s to stop the Jobcentre sending women to interviews with pimps, or madams recruiting at your daughter’s career fair? Then the CBI would no doubt demand unlimited numbers of immigrant prossies to address the “skills shortage” of teenagers willing to beat off pervy old men called Colin.

A fatwa on this sort of thing.

  9. I’d be interested to know whether the Romanians being talked about here are actual Romanians or Roma.
Romanians are still trying to cope with the legacy of the communist rule & the Ceaușescu regime. It made poverty & corruption endemic & it’s taking a long time to shake it out of the system. Romania’s a very low trust society & I’d take anything coming out of there with a large dose of salt. The “refuge for sex-slaves” could just be a way of farming foreign charity & aid donations. Wouldn’t be the least bit difficult to pad it out with a few local girls playacting “victims” whenever you needed to. Can even see the police playing along with it. No doubt there’s some well paid jobs in staffing anti-slavery squads.
Roma I can imagine doing anything, including renting out or selling their own children. There’s a reason they’re widely persecuted across E. Europe. You’ll work your way round to it in W. Europe eventually, you get enough Roma.
And yes, I do know quite a few Romanians. Even been to Romania, albeit briefly.

  10. Steve,

“Imagine if “sex work” was normalised. What’s to stop the Jobcentre sending women to interviews with pimps, or madams recruiting at your daughter’s career fair?”

Why should women be able to sit on their arse, paid for by other people?

The thing with normalizing sex work is that women might actually start behaving better. Prostitution is mostly an industry staffed by single mothers. Why should Daz get all the fun, while old Colin has to raise the little bastard through his taxes?

If more women had to suck old man dick for money to feed their kids, rather than relying on the state, they might pick better fathers.

  11. As a corollary to Bom4, if women got choosy looking for husband/father material that would provide a great incentive for young men to shape up.

  12. While I wouldn’t have put it as strongly as BoM4, taxing blokes to raise money to pay women not to sleep with them is wrong.

  13. Pat: I think of it as the Victoria Coren/David Mitchell condundrum. How did he manage to pull her???

  14. BoM4 – The thing with normalizing sex work is that women might actually start behaving better

Do we have any evidence from Germany and Spain that this is the case? Western European women seem to be no less bitter and disappointed than their British sisters. Their fertility rates no less disastrous.

I reckon going on the game is the wrong economic solution to a serious social and cultural problem. Commoditising sex seems like more of the poison that’s killing us (casual hookups, frivolous divorce and contraception instead of families with a stake in the future).

Maybe sex is actually really important, human sexuality potentially really dangerous, which is why our bigoted old ancestors codified all sorts of rules and taboos around it. Do we actually want to humiliate single mums, or try to heal them somehow?

  15. Steve

“ Do we actually want to humiliate single mums, or try to heal them somehow?”

A bit of both, probably. Like the Magdalen Laundries in Ireland, there is a lot of making it bad enough that it encourages others not to go down that route . Hard for those whom it hits, but maybe better for the many more who are discouraged from going there .

  16. Steve,

“Do we have any evidence from Germany and Spain that this is the case? Western European women seem to be no less bitter and disappointed than their British sisters. Their fertility rates no less disastrous.”

But they still mostly have the same incentives regarding irresponsibility as us, don’t they?

“I reckon going on the game is the wrong economic solution to a serious social and cultural problem. Commoditising sex seems like more of the poison that’s killing us (casual hookups, frivolous divorce and contraception instead of families with a stake in the future).”

I’m not advocating women going on the game. I’m advocating the removal of bad government incentives that encourage women to breed with irresponsible but exciting men. If breeding with a chav means he leaves 5 minutes after the event and you spend 15 years sucking dick to pay the bills, you’ll be less likely to breed with the chav.

“Maybe sex is actually really important, human sexuality potentially really dangerous, which is why our bigoted old ancestors codified all sorts of rules and taboos around it. Do we actually want to humiliate single mums, or try to heal them somehow?”

Our ancestors also didn’t insist on people paying for other people’s bastards, which led to a lot less of them. The disincentives (your house is full of your bastard grandson’s nappies), you’ll be paying for the bastard into your old age, led to certain behaviour – daughters were watched over, parents would try and filter suitors for their daughters.

And you can’t fix most single mothers. It’s a dead end. They won’t get a responsible husband to earn bacon, because a lot of men don’t want to spend their time and money on someone else’s kids. They can’t work much because the money gets soaked up in childcare.

  17. What Cayleygraph said
The article says that the UK has, *for the first time*, come top of the list for trafficked “sex workers” discovered. 114 that is 0.00017%.
Since there is an incentive to choose the UK in that the “trafficked sex workers” can claim more generous social security benefits than in other EU countries, the normal situation where Germany attracts more “trafficked sex workers” implies that there are other reasons for Romanians/Roma to choose Germany as a destination. Of course the smaller size of The Netherlands means that it is not mentioned (except on TV) as a major destination.
    @ bis
Roma quite plausible as traffickers, less as victims, renting out *other people’s* children. Hatred of Roma in Eastern Europe and the criminality of the Roma is a vicious circle as Roma who cannot get an honest job feel driven to crime.

  18. Sorry,
0.00017% of the population. And as BoM4 said they will mostly be picked up pretty quickly if they really are unwilling

  19. Don’t the illegal immigrants get treated differently (better off) if they claim they were trafficked when picked up by the authorities.
So an automatic incentive to report a particular way, but then there’s the lack of prosecutions for trafficking which would be the proof of the claims.
Like the farmers they arrested for ‘slavery’ not long ago, only to have their ‘slave’ workers turn up and demand their release
