What will they think of next?
In a study recently published in Marketing Theory, my colleagues and I found that sperm banks in these countries solved this challenge by playing into traditional male stereotypes and selling sperm donation as an experience that makes donors feel more masculine.
Ya think?
What will they think of next to not mention on The Coversatan?

“But it is not always an easy task – especially in the UK and Australia where it is illegal to pay donors or preserve their anonymity.”
Yep to that last one. It was decided that every child had a ‘right’ to know their biological father, whereon it was predicted that men would say, “sod that, I’m not donating sperm if 18 years later some strange kid will be knocking on my door.”
Which of course is exactly what happened.
Odd, doesn’t say anything about whether it works or not which would be possibly of academic interest. Just reporting a practice in the wild, and then at the end he says s’pose its ok if you use humour and irony.
Nothing beats the ‘cinco Latinas’!
Wankers.
Is ‘bank’ the right word?

That’s the thing that really leaves me raging about the state. I don’t mind the mistakes. It’s that when a law clearly fucks up, everyone desperately runs around avoiding the elephant in the room.
@BoM4
Exactly. Trump has the correct approach – don’t try to fix bad laws, repeal them.

Same thing when they changed adoption rules so that mothers had the right to seek out and contact biological kids and then said it applied to all previous adoptions.
Previously the adoption agency would often act as an intermediary in the process so the child (even if now an adult) rather than the biological parent had control of the process and there were trained staff involved to give support.
Andrew C. You’re right. The attraction of sperm donation is that of breeding without mum shrieking for child support. I recall the entertaining case of the doctor who didn’t see why he should waste time and money purchasing something he had in plentiful supply.
But of course with no anonymity, there is always the threat of being sued by mum or offspring, especially if the law is changed as BniC implies. Indeed when I think about it, someone is sure to try this one on sooner or later. I must keep an eye out for it.
