First gay couple to play Wimbledon doubles call for backing from the sport

  1. “…Van Uytvanck and Minnen said they had had only positive reactions. However, they did admit to adjusting their behaviour while on tour in less tolerant societies. “For sure, we are not going to hold hands if we are in Egypt or somewhere,” said Minnen, ranked 128th in the world.”

But, sure, ladies, it’s the West that needs to ‘give backing’ to people…

  2. “There must be some gay men [actively playing] out there.”

Must there? My impression is that lesbians are over-represented in sport; whereas gay men are under-represented. It’s selection effect, not fer of coming out.

  3. Bloody hell. Couldn’t they have gotten Anna Kournikova to say she’s a lezzer, or something?

I thought the Williams sisters – who always seemed about to angrily chuck barrels at Super Mario – were unattractive, but this pair look like funfair mirror reflections who escaped into our world.

  4. I’m sure there are gay male tennis players, but if this couple don’t know of any (they’re not claiming they know of closeted gay players) then the number is probably pretty tiny.

And maybe, just maybe these men have no interest in declaring their sexuality to the world? I know plenty of gay men in business who are cheerfully out in their private lives but make no mention of their sexuality at work, because it’s no one else’s business.

Actually gay men in tennis probably stay quiet for the same reason gay men in business do, so they don’t get bothered by tedious LGBTWTF activists or fat birds looking for a cool best friend.

  5. ‘While the number of women who have come out while playing is relatively small’

Wish I had a video of that. Can’t imagine how they did it.

Wonder what they think of Martina Navratilova and the kerfuffle she got in over Ls and Ts not having the same interests.

To be fair, tournament winners often go over for a spot of celebration with their family/coaches in the players’ box. You’d think gay/lesbian players would celebrate with their partners just like straight players do with their wives/girlfriends.

Anna is a lezzer. In my head. She’s having a steamy relationship with golfer Lexi Thompson.

  9. Hats off to these two tennis players not having any visible tattoos or piercings to emphasise their “individuality”. My cousin is a lezzer, she also looks and dresses “normal” and also has very conservative views. But why do most LGBTAAQWEDFJH++++GFRRTGFAAARRRGGGH have to look like freaks?

  10. why do most LGBTAAQWEDFJH++++GFRRTGFAAARRRGGGH have to look like freaks?

You’ve already answered your question. Actually, most of them – like your cousin – are entirely normal people who happen to be gay.

‘Activists’ however are always total freak shows.

Oh yeah, and trannies are all mental.

  11. @MC incidence of mental health issues and suicidal ideation is very high for trans, though that’s seen as a result of their condition not as a cause of their condition

It’s like they want to make themselves ugly – although Jo Brand (spit) doesn’t need tats etc to achieve that.

Maybe they become lezzers as no man wants them?
