The maker of Always sanitary pads has given in to claims of discrimination by transgender men and removed the ‘Venus’ symbol of the female sex from the wrapping.
Menstruation is – as with the inverse, pregnancy – rather the definition of the feminine.
A trans activist using the pseudonym ‘Melly Boom’ had tweeted in July asking Always why it was ‘imperative’ to have the sign on their sanitary products.
The tweet said: ‘There are non-binary and trans folks who still need to use your products too you know!’
Time to end care in the community, no?
This is essentially ‘wimmin’s troubles’. Again. It is not as interesting as some might think.
Why, nowadays, are the majority less worthy of consideration than a tiny minority?
You don’t understand the pyramid of victimhood do you?

We’re living in the League of Gentlemen universe and I claim my 5 pegs, Dave.
“Time to end care in the community, no?”
But Newmania could still post here from inside an asylum…
John B,
“Why, nowadays, are the majority less worthy of consideration than a tiny minority?”
They aren’t. But large companies shit a brick when a *noisy* tiny minority comes along. They get worried about court cases and publicity and being labelled racists, sexists, homophobes etc.
It actually makes no difference. The McLibel case went on for years, with The Right Sort of People predicting doom for McDonalds, but we’re still eating Big Macs, and all the case exposed was that the people who wrote stuff about McDonalds were liars, and that McDonalds were more than reasonable dealing with them (they asked them to write something apologising for the things they wrote that were barefaced lies and they’d drop the case).
Is this, finally, The Last Taboo?
If you identify as female, wouldn’t you choose to be represented by the symbol for Venus rather than Mars? These nutjobs can’t even get their lunacies straight.
Are Always tampons suitable for vegetarians? Asking for a friend.
Are Always tampons suitable for vegetarians?
Yes, before use.
If you identify as female, wouldn’t you choose to be represented by the symbol for Venus rather than Mars?
I think this is about catering to the (tiny, even by LGBTQIAWTF standards) number of confused fuggos who think injecting themselves with synthetic Dad hormones, growing a wispy little beard, and calling their fanny “Mike” makes them men.
Thanks, Steve.
I was about to say “that makes sense”, but then I realised that it makes no sense at all. Can a woman pump herself full of enough drugs to grow a beard and still menstruate? Please don’t tell me, I don’t wish to know (though I suppose there have always been unfortunates paraded as ‘bearded ladies’.
O brave new world
That has such people in ‘t!
Chris – one of them gave birth last year and tried to get registered as her daughter’s father:

No word on how much therapy the poor midwife had to go through tho. Even David Cronenberg would’ve legged it.
Any publicity is good publicity. Always brand just got splashed all over duh media. For free.
What in the Land of William Shakespeare does ‘transgender man’ mean?***
It is an embarrassment that the West plays such silly games. When they asked for tolerance, you should have said no, because that is never the end of it.
*** Rhetorical question.
