On Meghan’s Money

Was just interested where it had come from. Middling actress, £5 million?

Have a feeling that that’s a self-declaration there. Rootling around – not very hard – she was getting $37,000 a show for suits apparently. $300,000 and change for a year. And that would be the pay toward the end of the run, not the beginning I would think. Knock taxes and living expenses off that and well, £5 million banked sounds a lot.

Sure, brands, sponsorships, film roles etc.

And, well, not sure I believe the total sum really.

Entirely agreed that TV and film is a good way for a toothsome lass to gain a “fortune”, will beat many others for those who succeed.

But £5 million banked? Really not sure I believe it and would want to see the bank accounts before I did.

  1. Even if she got $37k for all 108 episodes she was in and paid no tax or living exoenses, there’s quite a shortfall

  2. Even if she got $37k for all 108 episodes she was in and paid no tax or living expenses, there’s quite a shortfall

  3. Did she get a payout from the divorce? Regardless, she does not strike me as the kind of person who is going to allow money to sit around and accumulate.

  4. “And that would be the pay toward the end of the run, not the beginning I would think.”

Yeah. One of the big things TV actors/actresses get paid for now is continuity, not talent. Plenty of actresses could have done what she did in Suits, so you don’t have to pay $37K/week, but once you’re the actress in the part and it’s a success, you can demand a lot more money, because they’d rather not recast and explain to an audience who this new person is (it’s been done).

  5. @David Moore,

if she got a payout from the previous divorce, it will pale in comparison with the one she’ll get from the next…

  6. Tutns out all Harry’s property belongs to the crown and his only income is an army pension. Weird. Oh, and the judge works for his gran.

  7. Of all the permutations of what might and might not be interesting about this whole sorry business, the amount of dosh MM has saved is possibly the dullest.

How many news cycles it will take for Harry to experience a Ceausescu moment and notice that the crowds aren’t cheering?

  8. Other than Suits the only thing I’ve seen her in is a one line Fed Ex delivery girl in Horrible Bosses.

  9. Did anyone see the Russell Brand “classic” “meet him at the Greek”? She has an uncredited part in that

  10. Diogenes,

Unfortunately I suffered through that movie. Didn’t notice her in it but perhaps that was before I knew who she was.

Did she ever have a proper role in anything other than Suits?

Given the media hype, if you had been looking out for the mixed race girl, it’s understandable that you missed her.

  12. She was a “briefcase girl” on the US game show Deal or No Deal.[

Lolts of gossip about her and steve mnuchin, brett ratner & harvey W.

  13. So I started Googling some random bit part actors to see what their net worth was supposed to be.

Jamie Pressly (who??): Supporting role on My Name is Earl and nothing else significant. Worth $20m.

    Go figure…

  14. Why not just ask MI6? They’ll know.

Some of the money attributed to Harry by the press will be held in trust, I imagine. But the English divorce courts have given themselves the power to loot trusts (or parliament has given them the power). Do US courts have power to loot English trusts? Dunno.

  15. If she got 37k an episode for her shows, she must be a fvckin good actress, because she sure as fvck doesn’t qualify for the eye candy premium.

  16. Residuals are a big source of income for actors. On top of her per episode salary she’d get paid each time the show is broadcast after it’s first TV run. She’d also get a cut of the sale of Suits to international markets.

She also did endorsements in Canada while Suits was being filmed and ran a lifestyle blog.

There’s also plenty of other ways for pretty girls to make money in Hollywood. Hence the gossip ac1 mentioned.

  17. I suspect the blog income – supposedly $60k a year before it was shut down – might be being capitalised in such estimates.

It’s been pointed out that she lived in an apartment in a fairly low end area of Toronto (?), paid for by the production company supposedly. Doesn’t exactly scream multi-millionaire.

Also there are rumours that she may have earned some money… I believe the phrase is ‘yachting’. I have no idea if that’s true.

  18. People in entertainment don’t get rich from appearances on shows.
They have inside info on where to invest in new productions.
Jasper Carrot – an average comedian – was quoted a £46m net worth in the Rich List. He was part-owner of a successful TV company.

  19. RlJ,
“Oh, and the judge works for his gran”

Is that how Hales managed to make her totally whacko judgment in the prorogation case? The only way she could have really known that Boris was lying was if the Queen or he himself had given her a recording of their conversation

  20. @Dongguan John

Jamie Pressly has been in a film or two (as a main character) which is more than can be said for Meghan. Also a model and has her own underwear brand.

Plus she has married/divorced a number of entertainment types which might have bolstered the bank account.

  21. Nah! It is the future income which counts — and maybe the lady has already monetized part of that future potential income?

How much money is the average entertainment industry executive going to drop into her bank account when a certain lady floats the concept of ripping off Kim Kardashian’s sex tape? The idea would sell itself — Hollywood loves sequels.

“Megan and Harry put the Sex into Sussex!” It will be bigger than “Debbie Does Dallas”.

  22. I think Jasper Carrot was above average (in his day – he’s head and shoulders above 99% of what passes for comedy these days). But his money comes from Celador.

  23. Tim is correct, she was a bit-part actress and not rich or even comfortable for her desired lifestyle

Anyone discovered sex and name of her/their black-lab? Seemingly a secret to maintain dog’s privacy. Meghan is bonkers

    @Bloke on M4 January 15, 2020 at 8:50 am

they’d rather not recast and explain to an audience who this new person is

Dallas replaced ‘mummy”, audience giggled and continued watching; then there was ‘The Dream’

    @Oblong January 15, 2020 at 1:44 pm

+1 she lived in dive. Bet Meghan never allowed Harry to visit her there

    @Chris Miller

    +1

  24. Mr Yan,

Fair enough. I hadn’t seen her in anything else and nothing stood out browsing her filmography.

  25. Carrots company came up with Who Wants to Be A Millionare which made them a lot of money. There’s an amusing story of them pitching the show to TV execs by playing out a game using real money, so they took cash, with the execs and when they asked if there were any questions the first one was could they keep their winnings
