Depends which Prime Minister but most modern ones quite possibly

By contrast, Fowlds was a secondary-modern boy who left school at 15 to become an apprentice printer and made his name on TV as Mr Derek in The Basil Brush Show. He later joked that being the long-suffering foil to an anthropomorphic fox yelling “Boom! Boom!” and working for a hapless prime minister were really not that different at all.

  1. I hope there’s some way of archiving Yes (Prime) Minister so that it survives the centuries as an awful warning to mankind.

  2. I’ll never forget the ‘They don’t care who runs the country, so long as she’s got bit tits!’ line, delivered with such aplomb. RIP indeed.

  3. Wonderful to see how many inflections he could get out of “yes, Prime Minister”. Brilliant comic timing. I guess he must have learned that from the mighty Basil

  4. “My job, Minister, is to ensure that the chips remain up!”

Derek Fowlds was brilliant at delivering the little one liners/asides. RIP.
