There are indeed things to think about. Like machines being able to do this can be produced in their millions and thus we can be id’d walking down the street – each and every street. But it’s the deployment that is the potential problem. Not the being able to recognise from a single picture.

Why do you have to identify victims? Don’t they come forward? Or didn’t she know she was a victim until the police wokesplained it to her?

Once you start looking at population sized groups, say fifty million, you’re going to find that for any individual there are dozens of close lookalikes that cannot be distinguished at any reasonable resolution.

Good point. I had considered the possibility that there were so many assaults going on that the victim had to be identified first to make sure you had the right one, but I was thinking about surveillance cameras and had overlooked the enthusiasm our guests have for recording their exploits.
