I am not sure that there is much more to add t that, except to note that the tax spend total is actually £400 billion once allowances are taken into account. And what is clear is that these sums are being remarkably poorly managed.
OK. So, total taxation is what, £600 billion? £800?
So, abolish all allowances – absolutely all – and cut tax rates on everything by 33 to 50%.
Amazingly, I don;t see Ritchie proposing that. Even though it’s a logical deduction from his observation.
I’d want to get the deficit down first, then cut taxes. (Or both progressively). I feel very uncomfortable with slashing income while still having piles of debts.
@jgh
Slashing income & corporation tax encourages investment and growth as Thatcher and now Trump has shown
This is fun too

“a non-crime “hate incident””
FFS
@pcar
They upheld the guidelines for non-crime hate incidents, just that the response from the police was disproportionate in this case.
“what is clear is that these sums are being remarkably poorly managed”
The government is “remarkably poor” at managing money, so his solution is to give it even more to mismanage?

The legacy of Home Secretary & PM May (Con) implementing everything Harridan Harman (Lab) asked for
@BniC
It’s a good start in fight back. If only Gov’t/MPs had the balls to say “We were wrong” this waste of police time idiocy would end
@RichardT
In Left world Gov’t is only “remarkably poor” at everything due to lack of money.
Brown demonstrated this by more than doubling NHS budget, all that extra money made the NHS err, um still sh1t
