Well done Snippa, well done

I really cannot see the price of labour rising significantly though: in sectors such as care and hospitality margins are already very small and there is strong price inelasticity – meaning that capacity to pass on wage increases will be very low.

Inelastic with respect to price means demand doesn’t change much with a change in price. Therefore it is easier to raise prices without a significant reduction in demand.

A recent professor of economics in the British university system manages to get matters 180 degrees, entirely and wholly, wrong.

It wouldn’t be the first time he’s decided, Humpty Dumpty style, that the rest of the world is wrong and he’s the one that is right.

  2. Spud’s kicking off big time about the UK’s decent into fascism because of the proposed ‘points based’ immigration system.

  3. Isn’t it just that classical economics is outdated and he is working on a revolutionary new approach that turns the subject upside down?

  4. Like cigarettes, as I recall form my O Level . (.oh I see Mr Bison beat me to it)-
Btw excellent article form some bod form the Cato institute on Con Home today. Dial up the horror of taxing the future and the stupidity of ignoring debt / GDP and the disquiet at a government born out of, and enslaved to, populist lies and that pretty much what I think.

  5. The Cato article doesn’t say a great deal other than that the government should only borrow in order to achieve long-term growth.

What it does not mention is any “disquiet at a government born out of, and enslaved to, populist lies”.

Hard to say whether to give Newmoronia the benefit of the doubt. He is, after all, a thick cunt, so it is very likely the article confused him. However he’s also a lying cunt so certainly capable of being disingenuous, if not spelling it.

  6. Anyway, back on topic (for Newmania’s benefit : the ‘topic’ is the thing we’re talking about) :-

Meeting and his mate Howard Reed have previously insisted, absolutely insisted on his blog that I was completely wrong and a minimum wage simpmy would nit have any effect on employment levels – no evidence for it whatsoever!!!!! And now look; turns out that reducung low-skill immugration does hsve an effect on employment levels, via businesses on small margins not being able to afford the higher wages demanded by non-immigrant workers. The exact opposite of what he has anyways said and the exact opposite of his assertion that there won’t be a rise in wages.

    Fucking prick.

  7. There was a lady on the wireless this morning complaining that new immigration rules would cut off her supply of cheap labour, while eulogising that she paid them minimum wage.
“I pay the absolute minimum the law will allow, why can’t I get any staff???” – try paying them more?
“It’s not an unskilled job, you need many skills to wipe client’s bums” – so why are you trying to tempt skilled workers with the absolute minimum the law will allow you to pay them?

Yes you have to be precise with words . Facsim was a revolutionary movement that excited the young and was infused with ideas about action will and modernity . In fact I`d say that the SNP have more in common with the Nationalist collectivism of that sort .Its easy to confuse it with authoritarian conservatism like Franco but Brexit is nothing like Fascism.
Brexit is the quavery whine of an octogenarian old bat from her bungalow……. I often call it stupid but stupid requires some sort of active plan beyond grumbling pointlessly about ….everything . Facsim was a terrible violent storm ,Brexit is just a fucking annoying drizzle

I am afraid Reed and Murphy are nothing more than utterly shameless charlatans – reduced now to ranting about Johnson being a ‘Fascist’ and a ‘Nazi’ (an irony given their well publicised support for the Labour party in the election) . Truly delusional individuals

  10. @Newmainia “Brexit is the quavery whine of an octogenarian old bat from her bungalow”

    17.4 million octogenarians?

Lucky, then, that we have 16.1 million sainted, selfless, altruistic Samaritans who will no doubt volunteer to look after them.

  11. Odd then that Jacinda Arden (she of the ‘lets wear a symbol of female oppression in order to show solidarity with religious fundamentalists’ dimmi attitude much beloved by the SJW left) must also be a racist of the highest order. Because she presides over a country whose immigration system is based on ..dun dun dah………..points!

Not only that, Saint Justin of Trudeau also runs a country that’s immigration system is points based. Justin Trudeau a facist bully boy racist? Say it ain’t so, Spudda, say it ain’t so!!!

  12. Candidly, it’s a well known fact that supply and demand curves don’t apply to immigrant labour and all those news reports about 2,000 people applying for a bus driver or barista job are neoliberal lies and furthermore having your own country is racist or something

  13. Newms – Facsim was a terrible violent storm ,Brexit is just a fucking annoying drizzle

Is that why you’ve spent years spazzing about it all over the internet? Brexit, I mean, not ‘Facsim’ 🙂

  14. Brexit is the quavery whine of an octogenarian old bat from her bungalow

Says the whiny, anti-Semitic halfwit Violet Elizabeth Newmania.

  15. “…but stupid requires some sort of active plan beyond grumbling pointlessly…”

‘Sword’, ‘fallen’, ‘on’. Can anyone pot those words into a sentence?

By the way, Mr Crun, I think old Newms might in fact be of a Talmudic disposition. Might not prevent him (?) being anti-semitic, but still, yunno …

Jon Lansman got smeared as being an antisemitist and he’s more Jewish than a kosher sausage called Jude playing the violin on top of a rabbi’s house in Haifa. Also apparently Jared Kushner is a nazi so anything’s possible.

Dennis – I know. At least Cato and ConHome have a natty range of merchandise, such as bow ties and watching stools. Excelsior!

  18. Was surprised that the comment about would Patels parents have gotten in under the current system hasn’t been met with howls of outrage over racism and dog whistles and so on

  19. BniC, if the Patels hadn’t got in neither would that bloody awful Alibaba-Brown woman. Swings and roundabouts.
