The rightwing US shock jock Rush Limbaugh said a gay man could not be a presidential contender because “America’s still not ready to elect a gay guy kissing his husband”. Buttigieg’s leftwing opponents said he should not be the Democratic candidate because he was the wrong type of gay.
One is an observation of how the populace thinks. Might be right, might be wrong, but it is still an observation.
The second is an insistence. These are not the same thing.
Nick wrote a whole piece without mentioning the internet term that encapsulates it all: gatekeeping.
So Joan Rivers was wrong?
Buttplug is “tipped”, in journo parlance, to be a contendah for 2024 or 2028.
But by then the Democratic Party voting base will be even browner than it is now. There’s no reason to believe black folks, Mexicans and miscellaneous will be more enthusiastic about a creepy white dude who looks like a CIA plant and thinks the anus is a sex gland than they are now.
“The aim of the LGBT+ movement is to abolish the need for an LGBT+ movement,” says the veteran activist Peter Tatchell
Can we now say, with 50 years of hindsight, that Peter is wrong? The real goal of the LGBTQIAWTF+ movement is permanent revolution, the exponential expansion of polymorphous perversity and the destruction of any and all boundaries and limits to human sexuality.
Don’t want kids being sterilised with synthetic hormones, or grown men declaring themselves to be 6-year-old girls, or disgustingly fat people whose sex lives resemble the special effects in a Stuart Gordon movie proselytizing for poly?
What are you, some kind of anti-LGBTQIAWTF+ bigot, Peter?
So Maggie’s Section 2A wasn’t some random act of senseless prejudice, nor were Enoch Powell’s (accurate) warnings about immigration. They were both realistic about human nature, and sought to avert preventable tragedies.
‘shock jock’
Cohen betrays his ignorance.
As USUALLY happens, critics of Limbaugh have never actually listened to Limbaugh, and viciously attack the straw man characterization created by the retarded Left.
They indoctrinate their audience. Meanwhile, actual Rush listeners go, “Wut? How could someone be so clueless? All they have to do is turn on the radio!”
If it had been Tatchell saying “America’s still not ready to elect a gay guy kissing his husband” Nick Cohen would no doubt have agreed with him. It’s only cos it’s Limbaugh that he goes apeshit.
As USUALLY happens, critics of Limbaugh have never actually listened to Limbaugh, and viciously attack the straw man characterization created by the retarded Left.
Same goes for Joe Rogan, the well known right wing left winger. (I mention him because my son’s listening to him at the moment in the kitchen) and quite a few others. Joe is old school lefty, he’s all for socialised medicine and free university education but he’s also for those other traditional left causes like free speech and helping minorities without seeing them as voting fodder. Yet he’s dismissed as alt-right or alt-right adjacent because he’s also prepared to talk to people on the other side of the aisle.
“prepared to talk to people on the other side of the aisle”
Interesting, BiND. Same deal with Bill O’Reilly when he was on Fox News. He was a retarded, left wing establishment type.
HOWEVER, he allowed people from the right to speak. It was so refreshing, he instantly gained a massive audience. He was still a Leftard, but allowing the right to speak made him popular and rich. The Left blasted him as a conservative, but it was readily apparent to conservatives that he was not one of them.
