This always was going to be true, wasn’t it?

Police have warned lockdown rules are starting to become unenforceable as the public begins returning to work and more stores open.

The Police Federation, which represents frontline officers, said it was “absolute nonsense” for them to be telling sunbathers to move on, when shoppers were queuing with “scarcely a fag packet between them” to buy “non-essential” products at newly-opened DIY stores.

Police chiefs also warned increasing numbers were driving miles to beauty spots in defiance of Government advice to “stay home and stay local” and then sticking official police guidance on their windscreens which stated it was permitted provided their walk was longer than their drive.

To keep the populace cowed you’ve got to have a continuing series of new alarums. Another way to think of it is that we humans adapt to pretty much any circumstance and near immediately start chafing against whatever the restrictions are.

  1. I went to B&Q yesterday. People were keeping a few metres apart just the way that they do at the supermarket. Why does it matter if your purchase is “essential” or not? Do non essential purchases spread the virus more?

  2. In a country in which the organs of the state are meant to operate with the consent of the people, those organs need to get ahead of this or lose control. When the rules change, change the rules.

  3. As far as I can tell, the modern British state exists only to administer punishment beatings to the better part of the populace.

The Labour lot seem to be claiming that they would have been more draconian and would have locked down earlier.

Wouldn’t it be fun if their next policy document were realistically titled Der Starmer?

  5. Roue wins the thread.

And I hope Stumour IS stupid enough to keep bullshitting about how the hysteria wasn’t hysterical enough. Exactly the WRONG move to make. He is trying to appeal to the bedwetters with “Big Daddy will take care of you even if that means a spanking”. But once the bedwetters discover the real death figures and what we have lost –their jobs/other people’s businesses/ the shops, pubs, cafe’s, cinemas etc, etc. A huge chunk of their prev lifestyle to be followed by a tidal wave of taxes, inflation. Then the rage against the House of Traitors will see fantastic new heights–and ZaNu won’t have a leg to stand on.

  6. OT, slightly. As ethnics are apparently more vulnerable to the virus, perhaps they should all be told to stay at home in lockdown….Think of the benefits: fewer hospital CV admissions, less crime, fewer stabbings, and streets as safe they were in past decades….What’s not to like?

  7. They aren’t taking much notice of it now Theo. Crime figures are down only because the victims are at home rather than the crims. Little point in going out if there is no one to mug or your street corner drug business now stands out like a sore thumb on empty streets.

The problem with the ethnics is not that they’re more vulnerable but that they are more jammed together in their ghettos with their 3rd world mentality that doesn’t really reach to the concept of global pandemics.

Then again, clearly I am just being racist.

  9. I love the open and frank way we can talk about the efnicks here and the way they’ve all fucked up Britain. Stabbing us in the back all the time, growing fat in their filthy ghettoes, taking our money and women, overloading our NHS, and giving us infections by not sticking to lockdown rules that we object to ourselves. Good job that none ever come and see the comments on Tim’s blog!

  10. BiG. If we were to be lucky enough to have a time machine and could go back to about 1947 and show the people of this country what allowing our Commonwelth ‘efnicks’ permission to come here would lead to do you think they would have allowed it?
And there is no statement in your comment that is untrue.

  11. Mass efnicks is the issue not merely efnicks. A small number of migrants does little harm and adds a little colour to society.

Millions bringing all their nasty habits with them and looking to be 1st vote power brokers and 2nd takeover merchants–is another story.

Nor would any of those efnick societies react at all well to the same circs. Areas of mixed populations have a large amount of trouble. The far East –Malaysia/Indonesia etc have been increasingly prosperous lately so that has muted racial trouble. But various ethnic groups still hate each other and the Chinese migrants–many of whom have been there decades if not a century or two– are still despised by the natives. If prosperity falters in these places–ethnic trouble will return.

  12. Maybe don’t stand around on Westminster Bridge doing what you keep telling everyone else to do, then.

I’m pretty much done with it after that. I’m not shaking hands with strangers, but I’m not bothered if someone comes close to me now. I suspect 99% of the Covid-19 thing is just about hand washing and really crowded places like peak-time tube.

    Get fucked, coppers.

  14. No tyranny can withstand deliberate noncooperation.

Policing spacing between people seems as valuable as policing pronouns.

    Reckon you might be right

  16. If anyone had any doubt that the NHS has replaced Christianity as the religion of the UK then this crisis should remove all doubt.

We all must stay inside to avoid hurting Our Beloved NHS.

We must not seek urgent medical care in case it overwhelms Our Beloved NHS.

The only time we are allowed to congregate is to clap for Our Beloved NHS.

It looking more and more like large gatherings where people are close to each other and have to raise their voices are the biggest risks eg weddings, parties, night clubs, business meetings. Places like theatres and cinemas where people site quietly not so much. Even the underground and aircraft don’t seem too bad.

This is a very long read but a good bit of research on what he call Superspreader Events (SSEs):

It’s similarly notable that airplanes don’t seem to be common sites for known SSEs, notwithstanding the sardine-like manner in which airlines transport us and the ample opportunity that the industry’s bureaucracy offers for contact tracing. I have been made aware of a Vietnamese woman who apparently spread infection on a flight. And New Zealand has one cluster that’s based around an infected but asymptomatic flight attendant. But the many known infections he caused took place at a wedding reception, not in an airplane. This flight attendant was running what was, in effect, an unintended experiment, with the passengers on board his aircraft playing the role of control group. And the results offer a microcosm of the nature of SSEs as a whole.

  18. That’s a great article BiND. I have forwarded it to my MP but I expect he won’t read it. I also sent him a link to the Michael Moore-backed documentary on You Tube – Planet of the Humans – about the insanity of renewal energy

Maybe Boris should order all non-whites to stay home like over 70s – that would be fun

My theory: for over 2,000 years Whites have been exploring world and built immunities, most others stayed where born and lack immunity genes memory

So you’re saying it’s “White Privilege”?
