An interesting measurement rubric

You can tell a lot about a politician by the individuals and organisations they follow on social media. Truss doesn’t follow any of the key human rights organisations, organisations representing disabled people, organisations representing muslim people, organisations representing Jewish people, organisations representing Black people and other members of ethnic minorities. She follows just one LGBT+ organisation, the LGBT+ conservatives account; no LGBT+ charities or advocacy groups, no charities representing LGBT+ kids.

Presumably, because I don’t follow big redheads, I am not interested in big redheads.

  1. So it’s Carrie. Well, allow me to freebase on Tramadol:

It’s interesting to put Carrie and feminism in the same category. Transgenderism represents the death of feminism, it exists in relation to feminism just as the chestburster alien did to John Hurt in that film.

John Hurt starred in the splendid Catholic propaganda movie A Man For All Seasons (BTW only Robert Shaw could capture the leonine power – the barely restrained regal violence – of King Henry VIII). Carrie is also a man, whatever the season. Like Richard Rich, he profits nothing by giving up his soul.

Alien was made by Ridley Scott. Carrie is also a Scot. A lying Scotsman, who wants to be Bonnie Wee Jeannie McColl. Choo choo!

    All Scotland waits for her:
In dark glens, beside pale-green lochs,
    Men long for news.

You can tell a lot about a politician by the individuals and organisations they follow on social media.

Martin Luther said that we get to heaven by faith alone. The Catholicians say no – you must do good works that are pleasing to the LORD.

Carrie says that we must follow the right (but not the Right) social media accounts, and also brandish our pronouns like we were His Excellency, President for Life, Field Marshal Al Hadji Doctor Idi Amin Dada, VC, DSO, MC, Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Seas and Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular.

What is right, and what is wrong, by the law?

Ye catamites by name, yer faults I maun proclaim. Yer doctrines are in vain, you will hear.

  2. Yet one more time Facepaint—IN ENGLISH. Is who what you treasonous fuckwit?

As for “Carrie~” –the MP isn’t interested in and does not share “Carrie’s” personal habits or lifestyle. So what? If some sodamitic constit has a sodomy-based beef that can be handled on a case basis without the MP having to subscribe to every bizarro organisation in existence.

  3. because I don’t follow big redheads, I am not interested in big redheads.

    ….and are you?

Sorry I am unable to illustrate with pictures in this medium .If I were I would draw poster personified as a person saying something and a commenter personified as someone commenting answering. Like a sort of virtual conversation if you take my meaning.

  4. How many Olympic swimming pools of SJW groups do you have to follow on social media to be acceptable?

  5. ‘Truss doesn’t follow any of the key human rights organisations, organisations representing disabled people, organisations representing muslim people, organisations representing Jewish people, organisations representing Black people and other members of ethnic minorities.’

    Whah! Whah! Whah!

Sorry I am unable to illustrate with pictures in this medium.

Yes, well, we all assume that crayons and coloring books are your natural medium.

If I were I would draw poster personified as a person saying something and a commenter personified as someone commenting answering.

You would draw a person and personify them as a person? That’s genius! A person personified as a person… Step aside Leonard da Vinci! What’s next? Drawing cats as cats to represent cats? Or small children with big, sad eyes represented as small children with big, sad eyes?

It’s almost as if you took an art class once.

Like a sort of virtual conversation if you take my meaning.

    What meaning?

Once again we find out that in Carrie Marshall’s world, any disagreement with her means you are, by definition, evil. Not mistaken, evil.

What I’m sure Marshall will never grasp is that her calls for tolerance ring hollow in the face of her own intolerance.

  8. Marshall has marshalled this evidence of Truss incompetence:

This time last year, The Guardian’s Zoe Williams described her as a “self-aggrandising, sub-Thatcherite, Ayn Randophile Tory” who “represents the new Westminster at its Trumpian worst.”

An attack by Zoe Williams? Is that it? Is that all you’ve got?

  9. Truss’s policy of not following special interest whining groups sounds about right to me. I’ve nothing against gay rights groups but, since gays have the same rights as all of us now, these groups have been taken over by fat, women-hating, mental blokes in dresses, like ‘Carrie’. Best to ignore them.

  10. Presumably, because I don’t follow big redheads, I am not interested in big redheads

I’m not even on Twitter, but that Amy Alkon would get it.

  11. Have Carrie Symonds and Gary Marshall ever been seen in the same place at the same time?

    Enquiring minds demand answers.

  12. “……You can tell a lot about a politician by the individuals and organisations they follow on social media……..”

    One evening in October
    When I wasn’t very sober
And was taking home a load with manly pride
My poor feet began to stutter
So I lay down in the gutter
And a pig came up and lay down by my side

Then we sang “It’s All Fair Weather”
    And “Good Fellows Get Together”
Till a lady passing by was heard to say
She says, “You can tell a man who boozes
    By the company he chooses”
And the pig got up and slowly walked away…..

  13. Actually, I would think that you could get a reasonable idea about someone’s views and attitudes by knowing the kind of internet sites that they like to visit. Making assumptions based on them not visiting the sites that you think that they ought to be visiting, not so much. Although you might be correct in your assumption that I despise special interest groups who demand all kinds of privileges by pretending to be persecuted minorities.

She follows just one LGBT+ organisation, the LGBT+ conservatives account; no LGBT+ charities or advocacy groups, no charities representing LGBT+ kids.

I’ve always thought Liz Truss was sound from the first time I heard her on the Cato Daily podcast quite a few years ago. I’ve heard her talk a few times since and she’s definitely one of the better ones in Westminster. So if what Big Mouth says is true Liz has gone up even further in my estimations.

Anyway, who someone follows is meaningless, or should I say just virtue signalling. When someone follows 100s or 1,000s of people on social media they aren’t taking the blind bit of notice in what those people are saying, they’re just trying to get follow backs because it makes them feel good and important to have lots of followers.

And anyway, who wants public policy made by someone who thinks the opinions of self-opinionated dickheads on Twitter, Instagram and other social media are somehow reflective of the real world?

  15. I have to say that I am starting to find Newmania slightly fascinating. There has been the odd occasion when he has said something sensible and I have found myself agreeing with him. Most of the time I disagree with him but I welcome contrary views they are healthy and thought provoking. Lately though, he has started to become a little incoherent and it is a little difficult to engage with someone if you don’t have a clue what they are trying to say.

  16. I don’t follow any of that bollox nonsense either nor the one she does follow. I don’t know anyone that follows rubbish like that described either. Does this make me a bad person?

  17. “I would think that you could get a reasonable idea about someone’s views and attitudes by knowing the kind of internet sites that they like to visit.”

Hey, Stonyground, didn’t you just click on bigmouthstrikesagain?

  18. Lately though, [Newmania] has started to become a little incoherent and it is a little difficult to engage with someone if you don’t have a clue what they are trying to say.

Lately? As far as I can recall he’s always typed in Bidenese. I’ve assumed it was down to drinking.

  19. “Truss doesn’t follow #longlist ”

No she wouldn’t… At least never publicly, being a politician and all….
I bet there’s some poor intern hidden somewhere who has the unenviable task to monitor the stream of #insanity coming from that list though, to give a concise heads-up on the next newest aggravation and infighting.

Or rather less charitably.. No doubt she can get any report on what #insanity is going on in that list from the intelligence service(s) without much delay. It’s, after all, what they’re for..

  20. Lately though, he has started to become a little incoherent and it is a little difficult to engage with

Stonyground wins the internet’s Understatement of the Year award.

  21. The Rt Hon Elizabeth Truss MP, Secretary of State for International Trade and President of the Board of Trade and Minister for Women and Equalities

    Equalities: follow No mouthpieces

Good to see “Minister for Women and Equalities” considered an add-on behind more important

Wonder what Carrot thinks of Naz Shah as ‘shadow social cohesion minister’ – How can she be shadow to a non-existent?

  22. Wouldn’t that only strengthen his sense of Martyrdom?

The fact that he doesn’t need DDOS protection only highlights the actual insignificance of his rantings… If Spuddo’s views had any traction, he would need it…

  23. @Grikath

Good point. Bot posts flood better:
    “Interesting, but what about disabled?”
“Plausible argument. However you neglected the cognitive dissonance aspect”
“Sounds possible, how should China respond?”
    blah
