That’s one of the reasons Stewart — a queer, trans, non-binary activist — founded The Okra Project, a New York-based nonprofit that employes Black trans chefs to visit the homes of Black trans people who are experiencing food insecurity to cook them meals.
That’s really pretty specific. Chefs are 139,000 of the population. Blacks are 13.4%. Trans are 0.6% – arguable but that’s what Google says. There are therefore 112 people max who could work for these guys. Nationwide.

Do they only deal with “cis” black people? Don’t they realise race is a social construct and that they would be discriminating against those who identify as black.
Isn’t identifying as trans reinforcing the idea that there only 2 genders and you cross between one and the other and thereby undermining the idea that gender is a social construct.

I suspect the program involves some kind of one-on-one tuition in home economics, in the vein of Jamie Oliver and the school dinners. An evening of teaching by a professional chef in how to budget, how to cook stuff that’s cheap but not rubbish, how to go shopping and not get ripped off, etc. etc. would probably have a far better cost/benefit than just giving someone some food.

Not sure that your working out is kosher here.
You assume that the proportions of chefs are the same as the general population. This may be the case but I think that is unlikely as chefs have a unique character set, just look at what our chefs are like.
Personally, I think that the numbers will be lower but that is just a guess.
If they are experiencing food insecurity, wouldn’t it be better to give the food confidence building talks and counselling?
Also we need more research into what makes food insecure: sharp knives, fear of boiling water and hot fat for example?
Food is made insecure by government taking it over. Same with water.

Tim’s working cannot be a precise number because 0.6% only means “between 0.5501% and 0.6499%, 139000 actually means >138,500 and 13.35% and <13.45%. And that is before one thinks about whether there is any correlation between the different categorisations.
The point is that the number is so trivially small that (i) it's almost certainly less than 1 in a million (and PTerry says that it has to be *exactly* 1 in a million to qualify) of US inhabitants (ii) there are large areas of the USA where there is no tranny black chef within a day's drive to provide the service offered by the Okra Project. New York may have half-a-dozen but there probably isn't a single one in Alaska, or both Dakotas, or Montana or Wyoming or Hawaii or …
