Well of course, she writes for The Guardian you know

Cambridge defends academic who said ‘white lives don’t matter’
Dr Priyamvada Gopal, an expert in postcolonial literature, claimed her tweets were ‘speaking to a structure and ideology, not about people’

Can’t possibly mean what it looks like it does now, can it?

  1. Bloke in North Dorset

I read a long Twitter thread from someone trying to defend her. I tried to be open minded but this whole BLM movement is just the left’s usual motte-and-bailey fallacy.

  2. Bloke in North Dorset

And here she is on Twitter:

“ Thanks to everyone who wrote to @Twitter: the ludicrous ban has been lifted. I am therefore delighted to share with you personally, that last night Cambridge promoted me to a full Professorship. The hate mails & threats are coming in non-stop but @CambridgeCops are following up”

  3. It’s hard to conclude anything other than her tweets were designed to be as offensive and provocative as possible. And I’m very disappointed in Cambridge’s reaction (“Nothing to see here!”). There’s certainly *something* to see.

  4. “last night Cambridge promoted me to a full Professorship”

Good god, don’t let Spud know that’s a legitimate career path.

  5. Someone should tell her “white lives bought your all freedoms”.

Nice that she is a writer for the slave owner’s paper of record.

  6. The Meissen Bison

How is it possible to be ‘an expert in post-colonial literature’? Or is post-colonial literature an elegant Cambridge way of lumping together writers who concentrate on the awfulness of the colonial period rather than contemporary writers of all kinds from former colonies?

In 2018 she refused to teach students at King’s College after experiencing what she described as “consistently racist aggression and profiling” from the college’s porters.

Racist agression from the porters’ lodge seems unlikely but the ‘profiling’ makes no sense at all: how do you profile somebody whom you can see in flesh and blood before you?

  7. Purge the cow.

With our new dynamic and heroic leader Blojob Jellyballs Johnson this bitch and ALL the Marxist Uni gang will soon be penniless in the gutter…sorry–he did what? What do you mean doing nothing? This is brazen mouthing of racist Marxist evil paid for with our money..he can’t be doing nothing …he can’t.

What were Theo’s comedy stylings? Tory Party=”bulwark” against Marxism? A life-size replica of Caernarvon Castle made of jelly would probably be more use than the fucking Tory Party.

  8. In 2018 she refused to teach students at King’s College after experiencing what she described as “consistently racist aggression and profiling” from the college’s porters.

What this almost certainly means is she behaved like an entitled cunt and the porter’s (being working class blokes) weren’t putting up with her shit and she got not *shock* special treatment.

I have zero sympathy with this race-baiter.

  9. almost certainly means is she behaved like an entitled cunt and the porter’s (being working class blokes) weren’t putting up with her shit

Oh it definitely means that. She’s an Indian diplomat’s daughter so is used to the untermensch jumping when she clicks her fingers. I’ve never met a wealthy Indian who doesn’t treat the help like shit.

  10. What this almost certainly means is she behaved like an entitled cunt and the porter’s (being working class blokes) weren’t putting up with her shit and she got not *shock* special treatment.

Bingo. The porters in all colleges are all top blokes and lasses. At least they were when I was there and given most still work there, I assume still are. You have to be a shitty person to get shitty treatment from them.

Double bingo. Never met a wealthy Indian who wasn’t an absolute cunt to those in the service profession.

  11. MC, it’s not just the wealth Indians. I had the misfortune to eat out in a restaurant with Indian colleagues. Their treatment of the waiting staff was disgusting. The caste system is alive and well even in the West.

  12. Well, that was Gandhi’s complaint. He certainly supported the system of racial discrimination, but he was outraged that he wasn’t one of those on top.

  13. “In 2018 she refused to teach students at King’s College after experiencing what she described as “consistently racist aggression and profiling” from the college’s porters.”

IIRC it was reported at the time that the problem was they would address her as “Madam” rather than “Dr Gopal”.

To which they pointed out that they can’t be expect to memorise the names and faces of all 8,000-odd academic staff at the University.

So it’s a case of “Do you know who I am?”

  14. So it’s a case of “Do you know who I am?”

Absolutely. According to Gopal, her not being immediately recognised by university porters was an act of “aggression” and “racial profiling.” Despite the fact that she was a visitor to the college in question, despite the fact that she was addressed in the customary manner, a show of respect, and despite the fact that the porters have to deal with hundreds of people a day, at an institution with 30 or so colleges and a list of staff and faculty numbering in the thousands.

Our unhappy educator didn’t say whether she knew the names of the porters she was so keen to smear as racist, in public, in print, based on nothing but her own vanity.

Well as someone who got mildly patronising treatment when I was somewhere around abouts, and is big enough to admit that I totally deserved it, I have to agree. They had a shitty job and you had to be a real cunt to annoy them properly.

“Never met a wealthy Indian who wasn’t an absolute cunt to those in the service profession.”

An Indian academic neither. I hear the Yunis guy at the Grameen bank is a right arse.

But if you want to see a proper online flame-fest, ask why Black people don’t tip.

There is a petition to bring down Gandhi’s statue. In this modern age we should all be a little less tolerant of racists who sleep with under age girls – including his own granddaughter. Please sign it. I am about to start one for Mandela as well

  16. She was the silly bint who complained that a porter at King’s addressed her as “madam” and not “Doctor”.
As if the porter could have recognised her as a PhD: from her halo, maybe?

D’ye think she might be a bit bonkers?

The Faculty of English is perhaps the most despised Faculty in Cambridge.

  17. There is a petition to bring down Gandhi’s statue. In this modern age we should all be a little less tolerant of racists who sleep with under age girls

Fighting back “they were racist, tear their statue down” with “they were a paedo, tear their statue down” would be brilliant counter-play from the right.

  18. @Henry Crun,

    Quite.

This race baiter has got the third world in her DNA. No amount of education (giving the benefit of the doubt here) or surface “sophistication” can beat the caste system mentality out of her.

And before anybody shouts “class system” you can be pretty sure that a chinless hooray would be in possession of at least a modicum of manners and courtesy, which engenders a degree of respect in return (not rocket science is it)

  19. ‘speaking to a structure and ideology’

    ‘white lives don’t matter’

    What structure and what ideology?

    Her excuse is word salad.

  20. @ Boganboy
Gandhi was near the top, just not *at* the top. It was reported that Nehru’s complaint about Indira’s marriage was that her husband, called Ghandi, was a Brahmin who was not quite as close to the top of the, within-Brahmin, pecking order as Jawarharlal himself.

  21. In her statement, substitute “black” for “white”, then ask yourself if the new version reads racist.

If it does, then BOTH versions are racist.

This very simply “inverse” rule has worked for me all the time!

  22. “In her statement, substitute “black” for “white”, then ask yourself if the new version reads racist.

If it does, then BOTH versions are racist.”

Get with the program. In today’s world ONLY whites can be racist (and all whites are racist).

  23. Delers nail it:
In What Kind of Crazy World do You Get <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/06/26/delingpole-in-what-kind-of-crazy-world-do-you-get-promoted-after-saying-white-lives-dont-matter/".Promoted After Saying ‘White Lives Don’t Matter’?

imo she [Gopal] should be banned from working in education or public sector ever again

    @TMB
iirc “Racist aggression from porters” was they addressed her as Ma’am, as they address males as Sir

This is what the Marxist appeasement leads to – in UK too
Virginia Police tell woman & child being attacked they can’t help and to phone City Hall to complain
