Isn’t this just such a horror

Mary Trump has given numerous interviews this week after being released from a temporary restraining order.

In an interview with the Washington Post, released Thursday, she described the president as “clearly racist”, and linked it to her wider family’s “knee-jerk anti-Semitism, a knee-jerk racism”.

“Growing up, it was sort of normal to hear them use the n-word or use anti-Semitic expressions,” she told the Post.

Many of us will be about the same age. Mid to late 50s.

40 years back such language might have been considered a tad uncultured but it wasn’t unusual. You know, the past, a foreign country….

  1. Funny you say that, my mother and father would never have used that sort of language and we were always given to understand that racism was a terrible evil…almost a sickness. We often had long term guests from areas of Africa with which the Church had connections.
My mother, nonetheless has become increasingly dismayed at the rate and type of immigration in her area and voted for Brexit entirely frankly, to register a protest. She said to me ..” You have no idea how nice it was to live here years ago ..how would you know ..” ..
I`m not sure how I feel about that.
It does show is that it is possible in the UK, at least, to be socially conservative,a life long Conservative Party member, and Brexit voter, having deplored offensive language and the racist attitudes that go with it since the 1960s ( at least)

  2. I think it way past time to declare

    EVERYONE IS RACIST

    . . . and get over it.

    “You racist!”

    “Who you callin’ racist, racist?”

The sword has lost its edge, so put it up.

  3. If I’d said something rude about Jews in my youth my father would probably have cuffed me.

He was a fan of British Jews, based on his experience in the army and in business. He did once say darkly that his admiration did not extend to foreign Jews because he had no experience of them.

The fact that this seems to be coming to you in the form of a revelation speaks volumes.

  5. Let’s be frank (“Hello Frank), Coons and Jungle Bunnies and much worse were once vernacular of the day. We didn’t stop calling our mates Paddy or Mick because they would necessarily be offended (thicker skins in those days), it was because we came to realise it would offend their children or grandchildren. And none of us want to offend members our friends’ family.

  6. “Growing up, it was sort of normal to hear them use the n-word”

Perhaps they were taking about Guy Gibson’s dog?

  7. Dennis, A Very White Cultural Appropriator

It seems Newmania’s mum wised up, eventually. So maybe there’s hope for him?

You win the prize for the day’s most naive post.

  8. “…having deplored offensive language and the racist attitudes that go with it since the 1960s.”

“You have no idea how nice it was to live here years ago … how would you know …”

It’s natural and reassuring to disapprove when divorced from the reality. When they subsequently turn up en masse on your doorstep, however… Different kettle of fish.

  9. So Much For Subtlety

Trump has Jewish grandchildren. He is a stalwart supporter of Israel – nicer to them than his own supporters. He had friendships with Blacks going back decades.

The Left is just desperate. They have tried everything and none of it has worked. Frankly this is lame. Who gives a shit?

  10. 21st century decadence. In the 1960s, we had too many of our own problems to give a s#it about what was going on in Baltimore, St. Louis or Chicago.

A perp dying in police custody would never make national news. PERHAPS we should start Cold War II so all this s#it will revert to the trivia it is.

  11. Headline
“sells nearly a million copies on its first day”.

    2nd paragraph …..”including pre-sales”.
    I still don’t believe it.

The remainder bins are going to be heaving with this little beauty.

Perhaps the sales figures are compiled on a similar basis to Covid positives in certain states. Anyone who may have been in close contact with someone who was considering borrowing a copy at some time in the future will be classified as a sale.

  12. Dennis, Author of the Tay Bridge Tax Return

The Left is just desperate. They have tried everything and none of it has worked. Frankly this is lame. Who gives a shit?

Almost everything that has happened in the States this summer can be explained by the fact that Trump’s approval rating with African-American and Latino males is around 40%. There is no path to victory for Biden if Trump takes anywhere near 40% of the AA and Latino male vote.

Perhaps they were taking about Guy Gibson’s dog?

Whose name, according to the BBC website, has just been removed from said dog’s memorial gravestone at RAF Scampton, “as it may cause offence”.

I wonder if we should start burning all the dictionaries in the english-speaking world, or pulp every copy of James Bond “Live and let die”..?

  14. Dennis-he who buys watches to full the gaping hole in his empty life –

Dennis, I was discussing the situation in the UK, about which I naturally know a vast deal more than you. I am more than happy to admit you would know more than me about being a old sweat smelling ,fat arse perching, fast food munching, shit car buying, moronic media consuming, vile clothes wearing, sugary fizzy flavoured water sucking stupid sport playing sodomite

  15. The remainder bins are going to be heaving with this little beauty.

Probably, but there’s a market for The Book That Will Finally End DRUMPH, vol. MCMXVIII

Tbf there was a (smaller) market for similar denunciations of Obama (SEEKRIT MUSLIM SOCIALIST), Bush (XTIAN HALLIBURTON FASCIST), etc. etc. but the mass media wasn’t giving those books millions of dollars of free publicity, because their arses hadn’t yet been turned into a Japanese flag by the Orange badman.

Projection is an amazing thing, isn’t it?

  17. My dad used to use racist language. At school we used to sing sea shanties that had the N word in them. Also, Oliver’s Army, 1979 wasn’t that long ago really.

  18. Dennis, He Who Once Waited Tables

Dennis-he who buys watches to full the gaping hole in his empty life –

Don’t forget the guns. I also buy guns to fill the gaping hole in my empty life that is the product of having $2,500,000+ worth of investments, another $300,000+ in other assets, not a penny of debt, and an accounting practice with a full book of business.

Today’s watch is the Gerald Genta Retro Solo in 18k yellow gold. Paid $9,500 for it back in the day.

That may be an empty life, but as empty lives go, it’s a pretty good empty life.

  19. Facepaint–your total knowledge of everything could be written on the end of your dick except those blokes who write the Lords Prayer on a pinhead would go blind trying to write on so small a space.. The fact that it dried up and dropped off long ago would make their job a little easier so long as they are anosmic.

The ONLY thing you might claim expertise in is a Judasian knowledge of the treachery and bad faith that comes with bring a snobbish middle class Marxist prick son of a seriously vile and dysfunctional family-clan of scumbags.

  20. The recent request to the editor of vogue to use the tradesmans entrance strongly reminded me, of a Robert Graves short story about two establishment members in their club talking about their ethiopian freind and fellow club mate, who’se pic appeared in the paper after a scandal/contretemp. It’s not made clear exactly what happened but i think either the paper printed the negative image or misidentified their friend as from the lower deck and they discuss going full establishment ways and means trying to get it put right.

“However, what do you think is at the back of this… this… transmogrification? Colour prejudice?’

‘That, I fear, may be the correct diagnosis, Admiral. First, we had the Mau-Mau trouble, then this friction in our ports and industrial centres due to the influx of cheap and unrestricted West Indian labour. And it cannot have escaped your attention that our poor saucer-eyed blackamoor hero is said to have undergone his denigration – no, that’s the wrong word; should I say catamelanesis? – because of a confessed inferiority complex about his complexion. Yet I cannot quite take that statement au pied de la lettre. He had all our hearts, and knew it.’

‘Indeed he had. Personally, I never thought of him as one of what Kipling used undemocratically to call “the lesser breeds within the Law”. Golly was Nature’s own gentleman, and if he had an ugly mug, why, I’m no beauty myself; and
    if you’ll forgive me…’

‘Certainly, Admiral, I too have a face like a clumbungus…’

Whereas you Facepaint –the Uriah Heap of Treason– would be palmed off with all the gun-dropping frumpy fat losers at the videos end. And still have to explain to them that you lost your tackle years before due to the gangrenous knob-rot that afflicts traitors.

  23. The vogue tradesman entrance story is suspiciously lacking in detail.
Went into office recently and building has instituted a one way system where we are only allowed to enter the building from one street and exit through another street with plentiful signs to only exit via the back entrance, pretty sure they aren’t the only building to do so.

  24. There was some blogger got into trouble by pointing out that while you could if wanted debate if Trump was personally racist, but that given his public statements and actions there was no way to argue he was ‘openly racist’

  25. “. . . having deplored offensive language . . .”

    So brave. So noble.

    “. . . sodomite”

    Whatevs.

  26. ‘Clumbungus’?

Bloody brilliant. Bloody brilliant. Tvm, Mr Be. A humane and learned comment.

  27. @ Dennis
It is the idea of someone reasonably enlightened voting for Brexit that Newmania cannot accept. Most Brexit voters were less-educated and/or Labour voters.

  28. @ Everyone
We are now required to call certain brown people “Black” – but not others Rishi is to be described as “of Indian heritage”, which is far more long-winded that calling him a “Wykehamist” – which is just a translation of “niger” from Latin into English.
The abandonment of teaching elementary Latin means that the undereducated woke don’t know that niger just means black which is their favoured word!!!
When I was a small child *everyone* used “eeeny, meeny, miney mo” as a choosing song so the deliberately ignorant “woke” claim that we were all racist. Rubbish! The only racism I encountered as a small child was anti-English racism in outer Glasgow – which was pretty stupid and ignorant as my father had a German name and was seven-eighths Welsh!
Yeah – I am distinguishing two classes of woke – the naive and those others pulling the wool over the former’s eyes.

  29. First, this is a great thread.
Second, Denis – quality triggering work!
Third, a fascinating insight into Newmongy. Not just about his Plymouth Brethren (or whatever) upbringing. But also the revelation that his sincerely anti-racist mother voted for Brexit because she was concerned about immigration. I could have sworn Mongy has argued here at length that only worthless, thick-as-mince, racist, evil peasant cunts voted for Brexit. Relations between him and his poor mama must be strained. I hope he moderates his language with the old girl.
Fourth, ‘sodomite’ as an insult in this day and age? Lawks! Guess you can’t leave the Brethren behind altogether!
Finally, @SMFS – clearly the worst thing about Trump is that not only is he a racist but he is also a Zionist who is too influenced by his Jewish son-in-law and daughter!

  30. PJF–The girl sis a right thinker–and unlike the usual munters hailed on this blog as lookers–she IS a looker.

Shame about the Neanderthal she is with but there you go.

I did once meet a bikini competitor woman. She was a looker too but also a very troubled and driven mental case.

  31. “Wykehamist” – which is just a translation of “niger” from Latin into English.”

    Eh?

  32. @ Dennis
How long do your watches last?
I’ve had my late great-uncle’s gold watch for more than 50 years during which time I’ve lost count of the number of cheap watches that I’ve bought to wear in high-risk or scruffy situations. [Probably a dozen or less but I’ve lost count because they don’t matter]
I also do a silly sport but none of the other (well, it depends on the definition of “old”) things that Newmania lists.

  33. “Money may not buy happiness, but I’d rather cry in a Jaguar than on a bus”

There’s a corollory: “The best things in life are free, but the second best cost a bundle”

  34. @ Saesneg bastard
Try reading it using standard English grammar.
“Black” which is just a translation
The dashes “-” are modern alternatives to brackets

  35. @Ummmmmmmmmmm, I think you have a point about the one way system in the building being the real reason why the editor was asked to use other entrance. What the guard wasn’t told was that you have to allow exceptions by those at the top as they think they aren’t affected by rules that the little people have to follow. So the editor, rather than come out as showing he’s above everyone, tried to make the story that he was being treated like the lowest of the lowest and therefore he is equal with all the plebs. Because the guard made that mistake, he was fired as he didn’t use common sense.

  36. @ Saesneg bastard
Not always but, now that you mention it, I can recall one teacher criticising me for a sentence that covered thirteen lines of my exercise book.

  37. Dennis, A Wog Or Not A Wog... That Is The Question

How long do your watches last?

I’ve been collecting for 14 years. I’ve never lost a watch and I’ve never had one crap out on me. So as of today the answer is 14 years max.

My everyday watch (if I’m going to see clients) is usually either a Seiko diver (I have around 20 of those) or a microbrand such as Helson or Bernhardt. As I prefer smaller watches, most of my non-vintage watches (Omega, Breitling, JeanRichard, Rolex, Gerald Genta, IWC) are from the 1990s or early 2000s. The heart of my collection are the vintage pieces. The oldest is a Vacheron Constantin Cal. 453 2C that VC authenticated and restored; it dates to Dec. 1944. I have a LeCoultre Memovox and an Audemars Piguet Classical that date to the 1950s, and JLCs, IWCs, Hamiltons, along with a Zenith and an Elgin that date from the early 1960s to mid-1970s.

I’ve taught myself a tiny bit of watchmaking, and these days I spend more on modding/customizing Seikos (swapping out dials, hands, crowns, etc.) than I do on “collectibles”. About the only thing I don’t have that I’d like would be a Patek Phillippe, and I doubt I’ll ever have enough loose change for one of those.

No, Ecks, that’s exactly the sort of shit I hate. And when I say hate, I mean really, really hate.

Over half the women in that video had no business handling a firearm – or at least the firearm they were shooting – due to lack of training and/or experience. Those bimbos, and the asshole boyfriends/husbands that put them up to it, are the sort of dimwitted losers that end up giving the sport a bad name.

  39. I’ll split the diff with you there, Dennis.

Generally I think American gals are a pain in the neck.

But then I see a video like that and I get all, ah, hmmm…

  40. @Newmoania
Your post on your mother’s opinions says it all about middle class Left leaning, bleeding heart hand wringers:

“We care lots, we support more SJW laws & policies – as long as we’re not affected or see it”

  41. ’40 years back such language might have been considered a tad uncultured but it wasn’t unusual.’

    Exactly.

The Leftwaffe wishes to judge the past. But it’s not about the past. It’s about getting you to accept the unacceptable NOW.

  42. The past is another country. My maternal grandfather was in the Merchant Marine. Served on the North Atlantic convoys and managed to get two ships torpedoed from under him on the same voyage. He used to tell a story of the Lascar (South Indian?) cook who’s culinary art was inedible. He was thrown overboard one dark and stormy winter’s night in mid-Atlantic & grandfather served in the galley for the rest of the voyage. It generally got a laugh.
