This is easily solved

Jessica Valenti is very tired of writing the same column over and over again.

Come up with a new idea now and again, Honey.

Or, of course, do what you are doing which is keep changing publishers so that you can write the same stuff over and over.

  1. Dennis, A Vast Reservior of Toxic Masculinity

Jessica Valenti is very tired of writing the same column over and over again.

This a lie. Jessica Valenti is a one trick pony; she hasn’t the intellect nor the inclination to write about anything else. Ultimately, any Jessica Valenti utterance is about her and her supposed victimhood. She knows nothing else.

I hate that I’m writing this column. Over the years, I’ve published versionafter version of it: how the majority of mass shooters have a history of domestic violence; how misogyny is a clear and obvious indicator of future violence; and how politicians, mainly on the right, refuse to treat it as the epidemic it really is.

This too is a lie. Carrie Marshall loves writing that sort of column, and for the same reason Valenti loves writing hers… Marshall gets to feel all victim-y and put upon.

Neither Valenti nor Marshall (especially Marshall) are compelled to write about their supposed victimhood. They choose to. Valenti could find a real job… You know, working a cash register at Costco or being a barrista at a Starbucks, and Marshall could concentrate on the tech writing that pays the bills.

The two revel in their supposed victimhood. The least they could is be honest and up-front about it.

  2. The proposition that men who frequently beat up women are likely to visit violence on others too sounds pretty plausible to me.

It’s like the old argument that people who are cruel to domestic animals tend to be cruel to humans. I have a memory that psychologists believed they’d established that as a truth decades ago. (I admit that that memory may be fallible.)

  3. I liked this comment made on a Guardian article once, so I saved it. I know, more than a bit anal.

When the Guardian does things well, it does them very well.
But for every article like this, there are several dozen columns by Jessica Valenti

  4. I grew tired of reading and fisking her tedious, monotonous tripe years ago. So that makes two of us. I guess it’s easier for me, I can just ignore her whereas she’s trapped inside her head. Must be Hell on Earth.

    Okay, right post this time…

  5. So Much For Subtlety

One day an anti-feminist is going to cure cancer. As young White men, often with some sort of problem getting a relationship going, have been responsible for every other scientific breakthrough since there was good news from the Muslim world.

I don’t think Ms Valenti will be grateful then either.

  6. “how the majority of mass shooters have a history of domestic violence; how misogyny is a clear and obvious indicator of future violence”

I haven’t done any research but I suspect as many men as women are shot dead during mass shooting incidents. Odd way for a misogynist to behave.
