Five points on the Trump vote in Flyover Country

Heavily armed black militias marched on the Kentucky Derby

Whether it should or it shouldn’t it will.

So much so that if Steve Bannon wasn’t in jail* I’d say he’s funding them.

*Is he?

  1. hmm…

The armed open carry thing is an interesting phenomena to watch (from a safe distance). If it’s legal to form a group like that then some are going to do it. I don’t know whether its a vote winner or loser..unless there’s more than just walking up and down the street to the mix. As it is at the moment it appears as 2a flexing.

  2. That’s odd. Just searched Google-News for “Kentucky Derby 2020” & learned the winning horses. But according to Google, this didn’t happen. Times must’ve imagined it.

  3. Soon to come to a country near you. No doubt uniformed spades carrying automatic weapons will be deemed to be “kulchral” & excusable. Just don’t be white & on the street with a copy of a gun magazine with photos in it.

  4. BiS- i looked it up – their leader, sensibly – marched them out of there when his group were joined by protestors, though ostensibly on the same side, were nothing to do with them. Known as the goading girlfriend scenario.

  5. Shy Tory = shy Republican.
Pollster: Do you think racism is a problem in our society?
    Voter: Yes
Pollster: So I’ll put you down as a democrat then.

But the logic might go the other way. Racism is a problem whose solution is to have less of it, so vote for the least divisive candidate, i.e. Trump.

  6. Oh this is a goody. From Ecksy’s link

“In this report, TIP explains the basis for our assessment. Our findings are bolstered by the historical expe-rience of Bush v. Gore(2000) and other U.S. electoral dysfunctions. The closest analogy may be the elec-tion of 1876, a time of extreme partisanship and rampant disenfranchisement, where multiple states prof-fered competing slates of electors, and the election was only resolved through a grand political bargain days before Inauguration—one that tradedan end toReconstruction for electoral peace and resulted in a century of Jim Crow, leaving deep wounds that are far from healed today. ”

    Completely omitting to mention:

“The results of the election remain among the most disputed ever. Although it is not disputed that Tilden outpolled Hayes in the popular vote, after a first count of votes, Tilden had won 184 electoral votes to Hayes’ 165, with 20 votes from four states unresolved: in Florida, Louisiana, and South Carolina, each party reported its candidate had won the state, while in Oregon, one elector was replaced after being declared illegal for being an “elected or appointed official”. The question of who should have been awarded these electoral votes is the source of the continued controversy.

An informal deal was struck to resolve the dispute: the Compromise of 1877, which awarded all 20 electoral votes to Hayes; in return for the Democrats’ acquiescence to Hayes’ election, the Republicans agreed to withdraw federal troops from the South, ending Reconstruction. The Compromise in effect ceded power in the Southern states to the Democratic Redeemers, who proceeded to disenfranchise black voters thereafter. ”

  7. Yes BIS, the Republicans withdrew troops from the Southern Democrat states, the troopers who had been attempting to stifle the KKK and force Democrats to allow equalish rights to Blacks, outlaw lynching etc. The KKK made a comeback and incredibly racist politicians such as Woodrow Wilson were allowed to become president and brutally screw up Europe after WW1

  8. My hope is that the Democrats win the election morally, in terms of total votes cast, intellectually, on the arguments, from the perspective of truth and justice etc etc.

But that Trump wins in the “being President” sense.

  9. So Much For Subtlety

I hope Trump wins and wins big. Mostly because then Trump will win.

But also because last time I was a gentleman and I did not gloat. I rose above it and offered my sympathy to the other side.

So I want to make up for it this time – plus some more. I want not to merely rub it in but I want to rub so hard it causes spontaneous combustion. I not only want to kick the Democrats when they are down, I want to stomp on the squishy bits.

  10. “Only 57 more days of Ecks raving about Democrats trying to steal the election.”

Until they do steal it yeah.

    Ecks –

I’m still waiting for you to give us the “how”… You know, the mechanics of how this fraud will be perpetrated. In detail.

I’ll bet money you haven’t even bothered to learn the mechanics of how mail-in voting will actually be done, much less how it will be gamed.

Providing links to guys who get paid to run their mouths running their mouths doesn’t cut it.

It’s flexing of some sort. Maybe it’s just me, but buying matching 5.11 tactical clothing and gear and then marching around on open ground with a variety of AR-15 style firearms doesn’t necessarily demonstrate seriousness of purpose. Personally, I’d suggest they choose someplace with readily available cover to play badass soldier, just in case someone stupid with a gun decides to take them seriously.

We have seen how it is done – California legalised vote harvesting. So Democrat activists could take around voting forms to unserviced communities – like the homeless and the dementia suffering elderly – and fill them out for them. Scouts honour they did not cheat – or offer a bottle of gin.

Minnesota has just removed the requirement that mail-in votes need a witness. So they want to junk mail everyone – and every ballot returned will be valid if it matches a name on the register.

They want to cheat and they are making it possible.

  14. @Diogenes 13:47
That indeed is the history. It’s that Democratic supporters want to draw attention to it amazes me.

A witness and a notary are no longer required. They do not strike me as being much of a firewall. If you are truly bent on submitting fraudulent ballots, having witnesses and notaries on hand wouldn’t be all that difficult.

Mass mailings of ballots will not be allowed in MN. The voter is required to submit a written application for mail-in ballot.

  16. Dennis, Phobic Of Whatever Today's Stupidity Happens To Be

I find it strange to read posts by people who decry Democrat efforts to de-legitimize the election of Republican presidents pushing conspiracy theories in an effort to de-legitimize the (possible) election of a Democrat president.

Fling poo in the monkey house long enough and someone will assume you’re a monkey. Is that where you want to be?

  17. So if voting by mail is such an important issue, why are the Democrats pushing it so hard now? They had plenty of opportunity to do it when O’Bama had the hot seat.
Occam’s razor suggests that they didn’t care about it before cause they were 90% sure they were going to win the last election.
If they’re all for it now, it’s only because they think it will give them an advantage.

  18. Dennis, Etc., Etc., Etc.

    BiB –

Google ‘shortage of poll workers’ and start reading.

Poll workers tend to be older and right now they fit the pandemic’s most at risk population. Unsurprisingly, they aren’t volunteering much this year. State and local officials of both parties in numerous states have been chirping about this for months. If you can’t man polling stations then other methods of voting have to be considered.

  19. “Dennis the PeasantSeptember

    I multiply like rabbits.”

This is an urban myth. I gave a rabbit a simple 7 x 5 sum and the rabbit just looked at it blankly before starting to nibble on the paper.

  20. Bloke in North Dorset

    Dennis,

I did just that and hadn’t realised it it had that bad. There’s some weird solutions, the best one seems to be akin to do what we do here and IIRC it’s in your State:

“ In Ohio, the Cuyahoga County Council on Tuesday approved a resolution that will allow county employees to receive paid leave while serving as poll workers in the November election. Under the resolution, county employees would get their usual pay on Election Day as well as the compensation normally paid to poll workers.”

  21. You seem more confused than usual Dennis.

I doubt anybody here wants a Demorat election steal or is trying to legitimise their thieving attempts.

I want Trump to win but am concerned that the Demorats will get in by cheating.

You reject that and then say that in person ballot personnel wont turn out so postal it has to be. The Demorats know that and it helps their cheating plans. Yet you don’t seem to care.

I don’t need to show how the Demorats plan will work–you need–beyond smug assertions–to show that it cant possibly succeed. You say that but I don’t think the scumbags would be wasting time with something they KNOW can’t work. I think THEY think it can. They may be wrong –but you haven’t given ANY convincing reason why it MUST fail.

  22. Dennis, Pointing Out The Obvious

I don’t need to show how the Demorats plan will work–you need–beyond smug assertions–to show that it cant possibly succeed.

    Let’s see:
    (1) Ecks, based on a couple of fact free opinion pieces written by Republican hyper-partisans, comes to the conclusion that the Democrats are going to try to steal the election.
    (2) When asked to provide some substantive evidence support said conclusion, Ecks claims that he doesn’t have to, but rather any doubters of his conclusion must prove it to be false.
    (3) Until proven false, the claim that Democrats are going to try to steal the election in November is to be treated as fact.

That’s not how it works in the sane word, Ecks. If you want others to take you seriously – and in your case that always seems to be in doubt – you need to provide some fact, some evidence, to support the claim of an emerging massive conspiracy to commit voter fraud on a nationwide basis.

You have no substantive evidence. That’s because in your world, anything that feeds your paranoia (like theory of a vast conspiracy) is accepted uncritically. Facts don’t matter. What matters is finding scraps of information that supports your preordained conclusion.

You have the same contempt for fact, evidence and critical thinking that dear old Richard Murphy has. In a lot of ways, the two of you are peas in a pod: Earnest, stupid and unable to deal with the world as it is.

  23. If there is nothing going on LOTS of people are also concerned. Maybe they should all read your smug lectures about how the world works. Another quote:

“5. Zuckerberg has the exact opposite definition of normal than the rest of us. Every election is determined that day. So that is normal by definition. He is trying to claim that taking weeks to determine the winner is normal. Yet that has never happened before. But he does use the word “Consensus” exactly right. An imposed decision by the minority on the majority and all objections will be demonized as ‘hate speech’.

Zuckerberg: “what we and the other media need to start doing is preparing the american people that there is nothing illegitimate about this election taking additional days or weeks to make sure all the votes are counted.” pic.twitter.com/lGdnWMUzgm

    — Zach Vorhies (@Perpetualmaniac) September 7, 2020″

A lot of people seem to think the election steal is something that the Demorats could pull off. You say they can’t but offered nothing as to why the plan–as delineated above–ie lotsa boxes of Demorat votes in marginals appear over next few weeks post election and lawdogs get the final result into the willing hands of assorted Demorat Beaks– CANT work.

Because in truth you got nothing. It could work. If it can’t pick a state and tell us WHY it can’t. I agree I know little about US elect rules etc–but it seemed to nearly work in 2000. And that was without the anti-Trump loons that now exist.

  24. Dennis, Showing Off My Scots-German Temperment

It could work. If it can’t pick a state and tell us WHY it can’t.

OK. Ohio. From the Secretary of State’s website:

“Each of Ohio’s 88 counties has a Board of Elections (BOE) office that is responsible for administering local elections. A four-person board governs each BOE; with two members from each major political party. All petitions for local, legislative, and congressional district offices are filed at Boards of Elections as well as petitions for local issues and options. Campaign finance reports for local candidates, political parties, and political action committees are also filed at BOEs.”

Got that, Ecksie? Each county Board of Elections has an equal number of Democrats and Republicans. All 88 of them. Think through the implications of that real slow and the obvious just might make its way through that foot-thick skull of yours.

    Any other questions?

I agree I know little about US elect rules etc…

Then why do you persist in raving about how the U.S. election is going to be stolen? Wouldn’t a bit of knowledge in the area, you know, be a Good Thing? Especially when you’re pushing the sort of shit you’re pushing?
