Gun control works!

Powerful automatic guns are being smuggled into Britain for use by organised crime gangs.

  1. Shooters fairly easy to obtain if you are a crim and have the contacts. Ordinary folk more likely to be talking to undercover Plod.

  2. Given that it’s estimated there are one million illegal immigrants in the country, drugs are easily available and that guns are a lot smaller than people and that our government has shown no desire at all to protect our borders, I’m not surprised at all.

  3. Dear Mr Worstall

Of course it works. The only people who are allowed to have guns are police officers and criminals, so job done.

  4. Well, gun control does work. The crims are protected against the wicked victims who might otherwise have the temerity to protect themselves.

The Vibrants who carried out the Charlie Hebdo attack had a rocket propelled grenade.

Such a shame France doesn’t have proper RPG control

  6. Yesterday’s Tel carried a story about a sawn-off shotgun. Later in the piece the reader learns it was a .22 rifle.

Journalists are just so fucking ignorant.

Don’t worry, wogs, the narwhal tusks will protect you.

“Don’t worry, wogs, the narwhal tusks will protect you.”

“Don’t worry, wogs, the antique narwhal tusks will protect you.”

Fixed that for you. They must be antique tusks, otherwise they don’t count. Fire extinguishers must be in date and certified by an approved inspector of fire extinguishers.

From the G9A pistol manufacturer’s website:

“The gun is designed for self-defense shooting cartridges with technical pepper or tear gas.”

It would take a good deal of practice to be able to hit even the broad side of a barn with that thing shooting 9MM ball ammo. The “Skorpion” is at least a proper submachine gun, though fearing it in particular because it has full-auto capability is silly.

By and large obtaining/making guns, even automatics are the easy bit, decent ammo is rather another.

Making ammo is pretty easy too. Lot’s of us out here make our own ammo – its called ‘reloading’. People do pretty precise manufacture of ammunition. Of course, some people like Bubba’s piss-hot handloads and blow their guns up occasionally too.

So you don’t even have to smuggle in completed cartridges. Just the components – case and primer, lead can be brought in as blocks and formed into bullets in-situ.

You can buy reloading gear in the UK.

And let’s not forget that 9mm Luger is perhaps the most popular pistol cartridge in the world today and that your military uses a variant (9mm NATO) so anyone with access to a base armory could sneak a couple boxes out.

Wasn’t it Chris Rock who proposed a million dollar tax on each bullet?

I prefer birth control to both. Guns don’t kill people. Casually spawned off spring of dysfunctional single mothers kill people.

  12. If they catch you with a gun here in UK, its a five stretch. So not worth it. Always fantasised that I might buy myself an old army 303 rifle, but won’t bother now I know its a five years in pokey.
