That “union jobs” thing pops up time and again. As does “putting right environmental and racial injustices”.

I went to Berlin for the first time a few years back. The opera was so cheap that it paid for the whole jolly.
Anyhoo, it was a one-horse dorp. Compared to Lunnun, or even Paris, it was just so quiet. I quite liked it but I imagine that many of The Young would be bored to tears.
I went to Berlin a little more than a few years back. I was impressed. I did not like it as much as some other parts of the former DDR but it was still pretty good. A little too cosmopolitan and not Prussian enough for me. Some good museums. Good food – I like German food and German waitresses are infinitely better than the service you get in Paris. Even East German ones – they were still a bit Soviet when I was there.
What I really liked is Berlin is surrounded by lakes. I had never heard of them before. But they were really nice. Great for boating and swimming. With some good restaurants at most of those I went to.
So screw Paris. Much less London. I would rather spend my summer in the former DDR.
After the rent controls of the 17th of June

That all the problems were caused by the capitalist bourgeouise rentiers
Inviting the wrong class of worker to join the waiting list to live in an upscale chic groovy pad in Prenzlauer Berg where you could (until the west paid for it to be plastered 3 times) still see bullet holes in the wall
And in so doing had lost the confidence of Merkels’ Linke
And could only win it back
By increased efforts to recruit the right type of worker to live in desirable apartments close to the national capital
Would it not in that case be simpler
For the Government to dissolve the German people
And invite a new people to occupy said desirable city-centre apartments?
No doubt the pressure to simply sell the apartments will increase.

WTF have they done to Berlin? I was there when there two of them. The idea of a “quiet” Berlin’s impossible to imagine. This side of Checkpoint Charlie, anyway. Must be because the bloody Germans are running it now.
