Lessee if we can take a crack at this one

The meaning of Kamala Harris: the woman who will break new ground as vice-president

You can sleep your way to the top? Younger women should shag older, more powerful, men to get their careers going? What’s it like being the gender and racial token?

Any others?

Well, this give the Guardian’s writers and readers something to masturbate about for the next four or so years.

  2. Bloke in North Dorset

FLOTUS has more influence that VPOTUS.

I suppose the only difference here is that there is a real chance that the one heartbeat scenario will happen.

  3. Get right behind a false claim of race hate crime before anyone could possibly know if it was true or not? Be bessie mates with the DA who lets said false race hate crime alleger off with a slap on the wrists?

  4. Kommie Harris is the feminazis’ dream: made it to the top without any man’s help.

Wait . . . what? She did what? Willie Brown? Well, that’s not the way it’s supposed to happen. But . . . woman as VP. Lefty woman as VP. We can ignore all that ancient history shit.

  5. “But . . . woman as VP. Lefty woman as VP. ”

The second bit is the important bit, I remember how the Left treated Sarah Palin. No ‘Vote for her, she’s a woman!’ then………………..

  6. @ BiND:

“… there is a real chance that the one heartbeat scenario will happen.”

I’d be surprised if dementia Joe lasts a year in the job.

  7. Serious men stopped caring about winning these jobs, so more women are standing as candidates?

Think about it. Where are the younger, sharper guys who should be defeating an old donkey like Biden? Compare Biden to Clinton, and the guy is an absolute joke. He’ll be 81 when he’s finished, and I know lots of 81 year olds who are barely up to managing themselves, let alone a country. So, where are the young, charismatic Rhodes scholars?

Answer: somewhere else. No idea where. They probably figured that politics is mostly a waste of life and working in banking or dotcoms is more rewarding.

Biden has no charisma. I don’t like Obama, but he had charisma for many (suckas). I don’t see Biden making rational speeches. Republicans think he should be doorman at the WH. Dems were engaged in beating Trump; they are not invested in Biden.

The Dems were petrified of Bernie getting the nomination; they can’t be comfortable with Kommie Harris stepping in for Joe. This is going to be a 4 year clown show.

  9. Started her political career literally under Willie Brown (nominative determinism there?). She was a disaster as California Attorney General. She was a ineffective as Senator. So now she will combine the two as an ineffective disaster as President (too soon?).

  10. I’ve seen this movie. Aggripina Harris poisons Joe Claudius, Washington burns and the deep state auctions off the presidency to whichever Democrat promises them the most money.

  11. I see the calls for unity and acceptance of the result have begun
Though the hate for Trump hasn’t gone and they apparently expect unity while prosecuting Trump (for whatever they can think up I suppose) who 70 million people voted for

  12. She would be more impressive if she’d done anything – anything! – successfully to get onto the ticket, or push it forward. She flamed out early on in the primaries, was clearly chosen to give stale, pale, male Joe a vibrant ethnic female running mate, and even then did the absolute minimum in the campaign, floundering on even mildly challenging questions from sympathetic interviewers.

    She’s a cuckoo:

    1. She was necessary for the election because she was ethnic and female, but the election is over.
    2. She has openly talked about a “a Harris Administration together with Joe Biden”, which is offensive even if it is true.

Sleepy Joe needs to ditch this bitch ASAP, because as sure as eggs is eggs she will use the 25th amendment on his ass as soon as she gets the chance, because that is literally the only way she can steal the Whitehouse.

Fortunately, given Kamala’s incompetence in previous offices I suspect she will bring the same to the Veep slot so that Sleepy Joe can get rid of her and replace her with someone who won’t stab him in the back as soon as she is able.

    Not Killary though. God no.

Kamala Harris? Get in line, bitch.

  15. On the plus side the media will be so desperate to make everything positive now Biden is in that we might get some proper reporting on Covid and a return to normalcy

  16. Another plus I’m hoping for is that this the Democrats “Ratner moment” when Americans who aren’t particularly political figure out what’s going on.

  17. Jollygreenman,

She may suck better than an Electrolux, but she sounds way worse, I’d rather put up with an Electrolux with dodgy bearings than her cackle.

  18. I’ve tracked it down:
Heinlein “Over The Rainbow”. A black woman is picked as Vice President candidate purely for show, gets elected. The President then dies, advisers pressure her to resign, she refuses, and becomes president, then enacts sweeping political changes that weren’t voted for.

Another one where Heinlein got there first. I just hope against hope that Nehemiah Scudder never comes to pass.

I had an interesting conversation with an American of my acquaintance regarding the lack of oversight on voter registration. In the state where he lives it is possible to register to vote in the county where you reside and also in the county where you work and there is no central/state voter registration database to check if you have registered more than once. He also mentioned that Pelosi has been brushing up on the 25th Amendment in recent months, and it wasn’t so it could be used against The Donald.
