Questions will be asked over timing of closing UK travel corridors

What time will the UK travel corridors be closing?

Anyone think of any others?

  1. 1. Why didn’t you do this in Feb 2020?
    2. When are you going to shut down internal travel?
    3. Why aren’t journalists exempt from all these restrictions you have put in place?
    4. Why is travel to my Italian villa to work on my next book not classed as an essential journey?

  2. In all seriousness, who’s still scared of Chinese Flu? Yes, yes, if you’re currently 90 years old and being kept alive by a cocktail of prescription drugs and repeats of MURDER, SHE WROTE, it’s not a trivial thingy.

For almost everyone else this is about as serious as the risk of being bitten to death by furious ladybirds. Assuming we can expect this extremely gay and fake moral panic to end at some point, there’s going to be a lot of people sheepishly pretending they never dressed like a Mortal Kombat character in order to buy a pint of milk.

I’m not going to lie to you, bros. I no longer even bother to wash my hands, because not all heroes wear capes.

  3. If you’re 90 years old, healthy or chronically sick, you are not scared of the Chinese Flu anymore than you’re scared of normal flu, pneumonia, bronchitis, a broken hip or a number 427 bus (I’ve had this discussion with my 90 year old mum who fears not seeing her vast family and does not appreciate being forcibly incarcerated). At that age, you have come to terms with your mortality, you may have another ten years, but you may only have ten weeks. You may well get to the point when you welcome death, as my dad did.

  4. @DocBud,

I’m saddened by the demise of your poor old Dad, who may have welcomed his death, but I’ll bet you didn’t. Whenever it was, I’ll bet that you still don’t. I miss mine, even though it was over 30 years ago. My condolences.

Hmm, not sure about that. My mom and dad are long dead now (mom six years ago, dad over 10), and I do still miss them. But at the time, I think they were both ready to go, and I was happy to see them go, simply because it put an end to their suffering. For either of them to have struggled on for a few years wouldn’t have been good for anyone’s health, physical or mental.

Isn’t use of the passive voice the sign of a fvcking shit journalist?

  7. 1. Is it still racist to close the borders to keep out infected people?

This is the one I want the Guardian to answer.
