So here’s an interesting question

The question was raised yesterday in a comment on the blog as to whether I was willing to accept guest posts from those who have proved their ability as regular commentators.

What is it that gets proven? Skill at sycophancy?

I have worked hard to ensure that this blog is open to a wide range of opinion, and take a lot of flak for doing so.

Err, yes. ‘Allo Rajiv.

So, the question is, should that role of lead writer be shared? And who would want to offer a contribution? I would, I admit, retain full editorial rights, but there are many here who can write well and have valuable opinions.

And to the interesting question. Given the commentators there will guest posts increase or, Lord Above, reduce the quality of the posts?

This is the best political economy blog on the net, due entirely to your hard work and intellectual rigour. It offers a clear explanation of the issues and a solution to many of the problems we face.
If someone criticises your analyses in a positive manner, you are happy to debate, and that makes for interesting reading.

See what I mean?

  1. Let’s hope he goes ahead. His “full editorial rights” will mean he’ll be falling out with his regular commenters of “ability” in a very short time.

  2. Of course Gerry Cockhead exists, MC, he gets free beer down our local in return for writing five star reviews on TripAdvisor.

  3. Proffessor Murphy
I read in your indispensable blog, that you are looking for additional writers I am not surprised given your prodigious output of well informed, erudite, perceptive and totally relevant articles for today’s political economy. Along with your warm hearted nature you must be exhausted each day with dealing with the calumnies heaped upon you by the ignorant and malevolent. I humbly put myself forward to help you in your herculean efforts to inform the ill informed and other naysayers who do not recognize the profundity of your thinking. I believe my name speaks for itself as a qualification.

    humbly yours, Uriah Heep

  4. He’s a classic leftist – the thing I most admire about them is the ability to look at a tree and say it’s a dog, and not only to do that but also to defend their position with elan and vigour, and to rope others in to say, ‘Yes, of course it’s a dog – you fascist!’
He has airbushed his own interaction with Rajiv from his own mental photograph of his legend.
I doubt he would even agree that it happened if you waterboarded him.

  5. Expect the utterly execrable Pilgrim Slight Return to make obsequious overtures about this to insert himself further up the warm and comforting Murphy back passage.

  6. @BraveFart

PSR is a public sector worker ‘working from home’. He was whining the other day about how he wasn’t paid enough. I did reply suggesting that if he didn’t spend all his time reading and commenting on Spud’s blog, maybe he’d get paid more but that didn’t make it through Spud’s censorship.

  7. BF – Pilgrim has already weighed in, calling Murphy’s work balanced and honest and his posts well considered and well researched.

    Murphy said “Noted”. 🙂

  8. “I doubt he would even agree that it happened if you waterboarded him.”

But the experiment should surely be undertaken?

  9. The pathetic psr is’nt even a very good arselicker. any fule kno that to get on in the public sector you need to suck up to your immediate boss and senior management . Sucking up to a third party isn’t going to get you promoted and better paid

Bound to be rejected. Not deferential enough.

  11. I’d actually welcome a co-writer.

Lets see if he/she/they comes up with a new way of enumerating posts. And possibly break the record at , what was it.. 18th? … 😉
