Stella Tennant took her own life after struggling with mental health problems, her family have revealed.
The bits that made me think this might be so from the original reports were 50 ish, kiddies teens or grown up, going through a divorce…..being rather hard hit by all sorts of change in life in fact.
I think (and I’ve had some times with this myself) that it’s a mix of person + life.
There are people who have a sunny disposition. You see these people who get put in a wheelchair and are like “well at least I’m alive, every day is a gift”. And people who aren’t. I believe, to a large extent, that’s wired in at birth.
Throw in life getting shitter and the less sunny disposition people tend to react badly.
Who?
Can’t be arsed to look them up. Are they a person of consequence outside of their own family? Why should I give a flying fuck?

I have always assumed that being a famous fashioned model f*cked you up properly. Mental illness being like STDs in some respects – the more people you sleep with, the higher the chances.
But this one seemed perfectly normal. Married 20 years. Four children. Retired to the countryside. Gave all that sh!t away. Not even a sign of a coke habit. Maybe it is all eulogies and we will find out about the amateur porn sites later on.
One can argue that this proves that the UK doesn’t really need to copy the Dutch with a voluntary euthanasia law. If people really wish to die they’ll manage it somehow.
It sounds like her desire to keep on modelling contributed to her mental health problems. It’s a fickle profession even for young women in good times; and being surrounded by younger, prettier competitors can’t be good for the soul. Stella had just turned 50: effectively forced retirement.
People really do need to have more than one string to their bow, if they’re to make the most of life. Men hit a similar problem at retirement: they don’t know what to do with their days. (That’s presumably why so many end up writing in the comments section.) Alas, poor Stella looked into the post-retirement void and decided to end it.
It was George Sanders who topped himself because he was “bored” – I suspect that the way his brother Tom Conway ended ( broke and drunk) also coloured that decision. I wonder if Ms Tennant was suffering in a similar way.
I retired early but am rarely bored, I own my house outright have no dependents and have a few bob in the bank. Hanging around with libertarian psychoes on fora such as this is an amusing pasttime that was missing for Mr Sanders. In fact I decided to delete my LinkedIn account recently because I found that I was posting similar content there, which is entirely the wrong place to do it and had to take the temptation away.

Same thought, but after a couple of glasses of wine curiosity got the better of me. As soon as found out she was a clothes horse I regretted the time wasted.
