Sigh, no, really, sigh

  1. Ah, but Johnny Forriner isn’t it? A wonder he speaks english at all, And beneath taking notice of. Useful people to have working in the fields or cleaning out the stables. But you wouldn’t want them in the house, would you?

  2. That they’ve got “#IstandwithJeremyCorbyn” in their name should be a clear indicator as to whether it’s you or they that is right.

  3. To be fair… Anyone of the real Looney Left would not know Granny Weatherwax, or would definitely not appreciate her, or any of Pratchett’s writings.

The man’s ideas as expressed in his books very much do not agree with their Ideology. Not just Granny Weatherwax.. Vetinary has some beautiful lines as well, counterpointed by the musings of the Duke of Ankh on the general state of humanity..

In this particular case – the XR vandalism – it’s a terrible, terrible, nogoodverybad result.

This says that it’s ok to vandalise any company that is a primary producer of fossils fuels. This is not about reasserting freedoms, it is cancelling the sanctity of property rights and the rule of law. This is a really dangerous precedent.

    Can it be appealed?

Once again we learn that the left are humourless priggs just looking for an excuse to be offended on someone else’s behalf. Next step banning said offence, preferably as a hate crime.

  6. I always thought Pratchett was very much a lefty humanist hippy type.
It was only after reading up a bit more about him that I realised that he really was a very angry and driven man who disguised it rather well.
He hated the iniquities of life and all his characters are imbued with this sense of righteous anger – especially Granny Weatherwax.
Now, about these twats from XR.
Property rights are the cornerstone of a civilised society. If the ‘powers that be’ refuse to enforce them on behalf of the likes of Big Energy, they sure as hell won’t look after the likes of you or me. I’m forced to accept the fact that we are no longer Civilised and are de-evolving.
I would like to apologise in advance to my kids, about the shit state of the world that they are going to inherit…

  7. I do not think that word means what he thinks it means.

But we ought to be charitable to ESL students who at least try.

  8. Jeez they really are dickheads aren’t they?

Their entire ideology is *based* on government patronising the common working man and woman.

  9. The Pedant-General,

“This says that it’s ok to vandalise any company that is a primary producer of fossils fuels. This is not about reasserting freedoms, it is cancelling the sanctity of property rights and the rule of law. This is a really dangerous precedent.”

It’s about London. We have these cities (and I’ll include Bristol and Cambridge) that are stuffed full of young statist babies doing pointless degrees, pointless bollocks government jobs or working for companies providing services to pointless agencies of government.

You would not get this result in Gloucester Crown Court.

“apologise in advance to my kids, about the shit state of the world that they are going to inherit” – afaik, its only the west that is like this, in China they admire oil companies.
