So they hired a playwright and TV show producer and

Now they’re accusing him of racism and vile crimes in the workplace. An example of what is being complained about:

Sources from both seasons agree that Spottiswood sometimes agreed to remove or alter story elements they found problematic or offensive. But the sheer number of times they say that they had to raise red flags became exhausting. During one lengthy conversation about a proposed storyline in which a character on the show — a Black bailiff — was stopped by the police, sources recall Spottiswood wanting the character to be dressed like a suspect the police were looking for. Multiple sources remember explaining to him, at length, that American cops randomly stop men of color, especially Black men, all the time. Sources say Spottiswood found that hard to believe.

At one stage the episode in question contained a scene in which the character spoke about the incident with Lola, the series’ lead. A man of color at “All Rise” says that he was consulted about how that conversation might go, and that his input and that of other staffers were reflected on the page. But not long after that, Spottiswood, according to two sources, removed the dialogue from the scene. “Everybody’s like, ‘Where’d that really important conversation between those two Black characters go?'” says a source. “He said, ‘I took it out because they didn’t feel real. That’s not how those two characters would talk to each other in that moment.'”

It’s all a bit snowflake, isn’t it?

  1. But the sheer number of times they say that they had to raise red flags became exhausting.

Just imagine how the rest of us feel to have constant, inane, complaints from the perpetually offended…

  2. men of color, especially Black men

c’mon! Be consistent! men of colour, especially men of black.

  3. How soon before people starting and expanding businesses begin to vet their potential employees for political affiliations? And refuse to hire woke people? Seems to me that if you’re a sensible normal person who wants to do a decent days work for a decent days pay and not complain about every little thing that upsets your political sensibilities then you’re going to be highly sought after in the coming years.

  4. “And refuse to hire woke people?”

Sensible companies already do… Plenty of evidence all around they’re right too..
And the Woke know it.. And are Offended.. And..

  5. “It’s all a bit snowflake, isn’t it?”- Yeah but how far was it predictable about the set up? The guy changed the book character to make a snowflakey point, went out of the way to employ people to help snowflakey voices emerge. When he attempted to tone down some rather large and delicate flakey voices, with half an eye on actually making a show that people would watch he was imprisoned in an avalanche of flakes that set like concrete.

  6. Hmm, “Multiple sources remember explaining to him, at length, that American cops randomly stop men of color, especially Black men, all the time.” I take it these “sources” are all Brits. Where, exactly do they get their in-depth knowledge of policing practices in the U.S.?

  7. Good, good. Keep it up. The ‘Arts’ have pushed this shit on us for years, maybe even decades. Let them sup deeply from the chalice of shit they filled. Once they have had their fill they might think again.

This won’t end until the elite realise they have as much chance of being cancelled as being the canceller. I prefer rationality but fear will do.

  8. Bizarre:
“Greg makes a show that is very palatable for CBS and its audience, because it’s representation without authenticity. So they can look at Black and brown folks, but they don’t have to hear about our real experiences.”

The list of episodes on wikipedia are full of woke, SJW themed episodes. Since the concept of “Driving While Black” has appeared in US cop shows since at least the 90s it seems unlikely that even a Canadian TV producer would have missed the stop and searching of black people for mere suspicion. (NYPD Blue, Law and Order had plotlines based on it. I suspect if we go back further, it’s been a common trope for a lot longer. And lots more since…)
