Ms. Burchill

Burchill – who was recently forced to pay “substantial damages” for her racist posts about journalist Ash Sarkar – tweeted: “What a missed opportunity! They could have called it Georgina Floydina!”

The comment references George Floyd just over a year after he was murdered by a police officer in Minneapolis. Burchill was widely condemned for the “racist” remark, and for calling the newborn baby “it”.

“I called the baby IT as a nod to non-binary b*****ks – and if you think you can make me respect a violent criminal who once held a gun to a pregnant woman’s stomach, you’re in for a VERY long wait,” she wrote in a now-deleted tweet.

The Telegraph is entirely free to employ whoever it wishes. But it all seems fair comment to me.

It’s also difficult to see where that’s racist….for racism is not a synonym for “someone saying something I don;t like”.

  1. references George Floyd just over a year after he was murdered by a police officer in Minneapolis

Does Pink Times know the names of the three gay men horrifically murdered in Reading a month after St. George got high as a kite on drugs and unwisely chose to tussle with some cops?

    Anyone? Anyone? Cohen? Cohen?

  2. “ racism is not a synonym for “someone saying something I don;t like”

There are plenty of people who would disagree, Tim.

  3. The Telegraph is now no better than The Guardian.

How do you change people’s minds? You can try to persuade them that your ideas are better, or you can simply make the cost – physically through violence, financially by threatening their employment or socially through demonisation and dehumanisation – of disagreeing with your ideas so high that people are too afraid to disagree with you. This is the path that the left has taken. It’s called Totalitarianism.

Of COURSE totalitarianism “works.” If it wasn’t effective, it would not be so enduringly popular. Totalitarianism is the only way for a small minority to enforce its will over a vast population and remake society.

  4. Language is fluid, and there isn’t much we can do about it, apparently.

The current definition of “racist” is a person who doesn’t constantly think about and express the appalling wrong that was done to George Floyd, and how this is emblematic of white culture. It used to be something to do with thinking Mandela was a great statesman, but things have moved on since then.

  5. The fact that they fired her after she deleted the tweet shows it’s a fucking waste of time deleting the tweet. Similar story with Ollie Robinson – booted out of the England Test team for ‘sexist’ and ‘racist’ (oh do fuck off) tweets he wrote as a teenager, despite making the most grovelling apology imaginable. It didn’t help apologising to the courts in the USSR or the students in China, either. Ollie Robinson, being only 28ish, has probably nevber heard of the struggle sessions, but Burchill certainly has.

  6. Shame she deleted the tweet though.

As Jonathan says, the Terriblegraph is no better than the Graun. Sure it still employs decent writers like JB, Douglas Murray etc, but the staffers are dripping wet woke fucktards to a man. ALL the sports writers grovelled to BLM and still do and the Telegraph never allows comments on articles to do with BLM, or trannies.

It also has a ‘global health team’ funded by the Gates Foundation and like all the MSM runs reams of state COVID propaganda.

And those are the rules of the game. So you can chose. Stick with your free speech libertarian idealism & lose. Use your enemy’s tactics & win. Whichever, there is no neutral position where you can co-exist. You’re not going to be allowed one.

  8. @ BiS

    Correct.

Picture if you will a ‘Conservative’ proudly declaiming: ” At least nobody ever called me a racist!” as Jihadi John saws his head off with a rusty knife while his pals rape his wife and leftists send his children to re-education camp where they learn that their parents deserved it for being White…

  9. The people booing England players ‘taking a knee’ are an “ignorant minority” who need “educating”, says former England captain Rio Ferdinand.

Ferdinand told the BBC those that booed were “being heard loud and clear”.

He added: “They are part of the problem. These people need to be educated. I think half of them don’t even know what they’re booing for.”

Yet just 6 short weeks ago when the ESL was briefly a threat to the footy gravy train we were told by players, ex-players, pundits, the entire media and of course the FA that football needed to listen to the opinions of those wonderful fans.

  10. @ John Lewis:

Ferdinand told the BBC those that booed were “being heard loud and clear”……”They are part of the problem. These people need to be educated”.

I’m sure the English people simply can’t wait to be ‘ Educated’ by people like noted genius Rio Ferdinand. Fact is Rio, the only people that need to be educated are Africans and Asians living in England: obey our laws and you won’t end up in prison. If you don’t like it, you can f**k right off.

    @ Flubber:

    Sam Hyde.

    A wise man.
