That you Rudy?

Eric Adams, borough president of Brooklyn who served in the New York Police Department for over two decades, won the party primary after a campaign promising to strike the right balance between public safety and ending racial injustice in policing.

“New York is going to show America how to run cities,” Mr Adams said on Wednesday as the final votes were being counted. “I understand crime, and I also understand police abuse, and I know how we can turn around not only New York, but America.”

Didn’t Rudy Giuliani already do this once?

  1. Racial injustice? Presumably he thinks too many black men are being arrested by Police and then tried, convicted and locked up by evil White supremacists.
Lets have a look at NYC crime stats then, where it appears that blacks are 24% of the population but commit 63% of murders and 49% of rapes.
Is Mr Adams working with his ‘community’ to reduce those numbers, or is he just angry that black criminals are being taken off the streets? I suppose we’ll find out in time.

  2. “the right balance between public safety and ending racial injustice in policing”

It’s odd that these should be the factors opposed in this equation. Is he saying that you can have either public safety or racial injustice but not both at the same time? That there is always a trade off? That’s quite an admission

  3. I thought Adams was pro law’n’order and anti blm bollox. His selling point being you can’t accuse him of racism.

  4. not only New York, but America

Doesn’t matter how well he performs in New York; his goal is the White House. If anything, clamping down too hard on black criminals will hurt his chances at winning the Democrats’ presidential primary.

  5. “I thought Adams was pro law’n’order and anti blm bollox. His selling point being you can’t accuse him of racism.”

Judging by the amount of Trump style electronic ballot machine shenanigans he had to suffer (he was leading by a mile and then suddenly the IT company said ‘Oh we found a whole load of ‘trial run’ ballots in the system that should have been deleted before we started, we’ve purged them, and now you’re only leading by a far smaller margin’) I’d say he’s not the favoured Democrat candidate by a long chalk.

  6. They’re showing the world how not to at the moment. Fingers crossed this guy might make things better.

  7. Speaking of Rudy Giuliani, the guy who’s favourite to be the Republican Challenger for NYC mayor is Curtis Sliwa, the chap who founded the Guardian Angels vigilante group back before Rudy took office in NY.

On a completely unrelated note, I wonder why the dems are now trying to gaslight us into believing that it is the Republicans who want to defund the police.
