A feature of NZ is that we don’t really do celebrity. Some people call it “tall poppy syndrome”. Whatever. She’d be ranked about the same as a mediocre All Black. Who we might recognise. Then leave alone, because it’s impolite to point.
Some stars love it — they can go about their lives without being mobbed. Some really rich people live here as a result. Those with some humility.

I’ve lost track of the number of places “I could see myself living here”. It didn’t mean I planned to rush out and do it, although 20 years after we moved away from N Dorset having said we could see ourselves retiring here that is exactly what we did.
Of course they could see themselves living as ‘important people’ in a grody little fascist-lite state. I’m sure they’d be very happy to have the connections to get things like court-ordered media blackouts when they wanted.
