Care in the community

In the chat rooms and forums dedicated to the extreme incel misogynistic subculture, Jake Davison was praised as a “saint” on Saturday night.

In a series of bizarre and invariably deeply offensive comments, the Plymouth mass shooting was hailed as marking the beginning of a new “season” of attacks by young men filled with hatred towards women.

One incel – an involuntary celibate – expressed disappointment that Davison’s “score”, or the number of people he had killed, was not higher.

Another warned that he feared Davison’s murders could erode the rights of British incels to arm themselves to carry out more attacks. Many blamed women who had spurned Davison’s advances as responsible for his actions.

Doesn’t seem to be working, does it?

As to whether the culture actually has changed, some rise in sexually frustrated young men etc I’m not sure. It’s never been all that far away from being a worry in any and every society. Round the 17 year olds up, together, send ’em off to fight the equivalent others over the hill has long been a standard manouevre. It could be that, sa with so many other things, this social media is just raising the visibility. As with libertarians and other such generally unfashionable thought processes.

  1. Seems to a lot of talking about a relatively tiny number of men. There is of course a rather more prevalent female equivalent. A particular sort of radical feminist. Whose hatred of men gets them newspaper columns rather than obscure social media chatrooms. Can’t help wonder if both aren’t the extreme end of what’s produced by shows like Love Island & Big Brother. The marketed ideal of what you & your prospective mate should conform to. Something very few could actually attain. Doesn’t stop a very large number of young people in the mating game attempting to. So these are the abject failures.

  2. There is the violence aspect. Although in men it’s rare. Men are better at controlling violence. If you accept verbal violence is still violence, there’s a hell of a lot of violently spiteful women about. But then women have never been much for controlling their feelings.

  3. Regarding the marketed ideals. It’s always been there. In songs, poetry & literature. Later in films. Cinema & TV. But it’s always been easier to distance oneself from it because it’s never been presented as anything else but fiction. But now there’s great globs of it purporting to be real life. In reality TV shows, in advertising, the social influencers like the Kardashian mob, music videos.

  4. No doubt we’ll see further restrictions on firearms. It always seems to be the case that a few nutters screw it up for everyone else because the public, egged on by the MSM, have no sense of proportion and TPTB are happy to go along. Dunblane is an obvious example. The bad guys still have a range of weapons at their disposal despite the handgun ban.

  5. Bloke in North Dorset

Chester’s comment about Muslims taking younger wives on another thread gto me thinking about this problem.

Was there a significant sex imbalance around the time Mohamed started his religion? It was a very violent time and the culture there was based on the tribal honour system, so was polygamy a response to a shortage of young males?

Alternatively, did polygamy mean a shortage of available young women which increased the violent tendencies in young males as they had to compete for a scarce resource?

  6. ’ One incel – an involuntary celibate – expressed disappointment that Davison’s “score”, or the number of people he had killed, was not higher.’

If they are so misogynistic should he have been complaining that he killed men in almost equal numbers?

  7. And I see publicity-hungry Nazir Afzal is jumping aboard this bandwagon:

’ Mr Afzal added: “We have now seen posts on various social media sites which paint a picture of somebody that has a very low opinion or had a very low opinion of women, who seemed to have a belief he was entitled to do whatever he wanted to, a real expectation that women were some kind of lesser being.

“That kind of extreme misogyny of the type we have seen here and in terms of the incel community is a threat to all women and, ultimately, to all our communities.”’

Someone less charitable than me might wonder that he never connected the dots while at mosque…

You’re looking at a society based on goat herding. Migratory. Little agriculture & little ability to refine metals. Basically stone age. With a warrior class who can go take what they can’t produce from settled people. What do you expect it to be like.

  9. From photographs the guy doesn’t look any worse than many young men; a bit podgy, needs to scrape off the beard, but 100% ordinary.
I think, or at least advance the suggestion, that an incel is easily cured. If you can get rid of the raging narcissism (manifested in self hatred) and get them having ordinary conversations with girls (at the Tesco check out is a start) then you can help them gain a sense of perspective. And reassure them that other people are not having orgiastic sex with everyone they meet.

The gun stuff is a distraction. For every shooter there are thousands of silent unhappy young men.

  10. “One incel – an involuntary celibate ”

This doesn’t make economic sense. Celibacy can be “quickly” fixed for £30. A box of 250 shotgun shells costs double that.

  11. an incel is easily cured

They don’t want to be cured and they are not involuntarily celibate. They just don’t think it is fair that they – average looking blokes – don’t get to fuck supermodels. The female equivalent can be found moaning in print that there are ‘no good men out there’. Both the incels and the picky harridans need to realise they are made for each other.

  12. I think the more elderly demographic on here is missing the point of incels, for young people today dating is entirely conducted online. Its not a case of chatting up Tesco checkout operators (who are rarely in the 20 something age group anyway, and indeed thanks to self service checkouts are far less in number anyway), its all about the dating websites and social media. And as such these online dating processes exacerbate the extremes. The good looking and attractive people in all senses of the word get probably 80% of the attention, and the rest get the dregs. Its entirely possible for a young man over time to contact tens even hundreds of women online and get not even a single reply, even to say bugger off. Its hardly surprising that a young man experiencing that might get a bit of a downer about things in general and women in particular. And it doesn’t help that society is hyper-sexualised now, everything from TV to films, from newspapers to every online media website uses sex to sell everything, plus of course online porn is ubiquitous, so its seems to the average lad that everyone except him is at it like rabbits.

And of course no-one ever tells young men the truth about women and sex and relationships, they get the feminised version from every side, from single mothers, to the female dominated education system and the woke dominated media system. When they discover that reality is not what they have been told (that women don’t actually go for the quiet mild mannered polite young men and instead prefer the more edgy exciting ones with significant character flaws) then they understandably get bitter, as we all do when we discover we’ve been lied to.

  13. Don’t think you understand incel, AndyF. What they lack is acceptance. A bit of volunteered rumpy-pumpy is a marker for that. That they haven’t managed that shows they haven’t even got on the ladder. Paying for it would just confirm their status.
It’s why I’m always saying in another context that there’s a vast lack of demand. There’s a reluctance to participate in the market because how men would feel about themselves if they did. Go look at the sign ups for swinging sites. The single men outnumber the women 100 to 1. It’s not the illusion of free nookey. It’s the illusion of voluntarily free nookey. Wouldn’t even have to be free if packaged right.

  14. “Was there a significant sex imbalance around the time Mohamed started his religion?”
That question was correctly answered by BIS. Mohammed was a rapist, camel thief, torturer and murderer, said to have staked a man down and put lighted coals on his chest because he wouldn’t let Mohammed shag his wife. When he started his cult, he obviously, wanted these perks to continue, and so incorporated them into the philosophy(?) of Islam. As rape, paedophilia, sex slavery, and bestiality, are all accepted facets of Islam, it may explain why there are few incels in that mysoginistic society. Unfortunately for the rest of the world, for millenia, these philosophies have been ingrained into the brain washing of young Muslims who, naturally, pass them on to their progeny. You only have to look at the more recent effects of Nazism, Communism, Moonies, etc, to see the similarities. Until Muslims start questioning, and challenging, these stone age philosophies, there will be no moral advancement of that cult.

  15. From Wiki:
” Haiti is 27,750 square kilometers (10,714 sq mi) in size, the third largest country in the Caribbean by area, and has an estimated population of 11.4 million,[6][7] making it the most populous country in the Caribbean. ”
Can’t help but wonder if that isn’t telling us something.
Ah! “Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the Americas, with corruption, political instability, poor infrastructure, lack of health care and lack of education cited as the main causes.”
    Just possibly.

  16. Same as the transsexuals. There was always a tiny handful, but meeting other similar disaffected people online encouraged them down this dark path.

Even just giving them the name “incel” invokes the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis: you always get more of something if you give it a name.

  17. “But then women have never been much for controlling their feelings.”

Men learn in adolescence to control their feelings as it most always leads to physical violence. When I lived in the States in my younger years and everyone carried concealed weapons the downside was fatal. Because men don’t general hit or abuse women (and yes there will always be a minority of tossers), women believe they are immune from retaliation.

  18. “could erode the rights of British incels to arm themselves to carry out more attacks”

I don’t remember that enumerated in the Bill of Rights.

  19. “I think, or at least advance the suggestion, that an incel is easily cured. If you can get rid of the raging narcissism (manifested in self hatred) and get them having ordinary conversations with girls (at the Tesco check out is a start) then you can help them gain a sense of perspective.”

I’ve mentioned this before, we used to have these methods of beating young men into socialable members of the human race. Church Socials, interfering aunts, school dances, places where uncouth adolescents where shepherded into society, forced to learn how to wash and talk to politely to the opposite sex, and learn behaviour compatible with getting a mate. But of course, all those things were terribly patronising and impositional nonsense, and was expelled from modern society. Without replacing it with anything else, and we wonder why we are breeeding a population of unsocialised naccistic feral delinquants.

  20. “You’re looking at a society based on goat herding. Migratory. Little agriculture & …”

The Koran makes it clear there was settled agriculture, from which you might reasonably draw the conclusion that it was not Mecca that was the holy city. Some writers suggest Petra. Anyway; figs, fields, olives – not Mecca.

  21. we used to have these methods of beating young men into socialable members of the human race. Church Socials, interfering aunts, school dances, places where uncouth adolescents where shepherded into society, forced to learn how to wash and talk to politely to the opposite sex, and learn behaviour compatible with getting a mate.

If we’re going to give full reign to female hypergamy without any balance on the male side then you are going to get exactly the society we’ve got for young folks. The women are whoring themselves out at an exponential rate and the bottom 80% of males are getting nothing unless it’s paid for by the hour.

Is that a good approach for the foundations of the next generations? I don’t think so, but every time this is pointed out in even the most clinical terms all the comeback is about patriarchy, misogyny and not much about reality.

To be honest, I’m not that worried because this vicious circle is self-correcting. The problem is that it’s going to be a very bad time for all concerned (and particularly the women) when these particular chickens come home to roost.

  22. @dearieme,
I’ve been down a YouTube rabbit hole in the past, listening to a lot of lectures by Jay Smith on the history of Islam. I have to say I found the Petra = mecca hypothesis plausible (although I didn’t look up any counter arguments). For one, the “Qibla” on several of the oldest mosques originally pointed towards Petra.
