First, I have now resigned from all association with the Fair Tax Mark, partly because of my concern about this international standard.
Second, the Fair Tax Foundation that runs the Fair Tax Mark has reminded me of my legal obligations not to discuss the details of this issue, and as a result I will not do so.
Third, I do however note that none of those now managing the Fair Tax Mark on a day-to-day basis has any qualifications in or practitioner experience of accounting or taxation, let alone at an international level.
I wish to make clear as a consequence that I am not offering any sort of endorsement for the standard that has been issued, for which I have no responsibility.
I did laugh out loud when the Great Andrew C mentioned this in the comments on the last ‘ROR’ entry!
My first reaction to the third point is ‘pot calling kettle’ – he has no knowledge of accounting or taxation as he has demonstrated thousands of times- and his ignorance of geopolitics and international issues is so vast as to be almost without end.
It’s almost enough to make one feel sorry for him. How lacking in social grace must you be to fall out with everyone you try and collaborate with? No wonder every pub in Downham Market banned him! Then you remember he is one of the most evil men living on the planet today and any sympathy evaporates.
“I do however note that none of those now managing the Fair Tax Mark on a day-to-day basis has any qualifications in or practitioner experience of accounting or taxation, let alone at an international level.”
Spiteful, sour, classless little cvnt.
What’s happened here is that FTM probably took advice from someone else and didn’t pander to Spud’s bloated ego. As he couldn’t get his own way, he threw his toys out of the pram and stomped off.
“Second I was reminded I should not legally be talking about the details”
“Third, I shall talk about the details anyway… <snipe, snipe, snipe>”
Just can’t help himself, can he?
@ VP
‘No wonder every pub in Downham Market banned him!’
Is that actually true? I had assumed it was a joke!
No fourthly?
So no change then?
The logical endgame involves the P³’s neighbours complaining about the abuse and foul language as he argues with his reflection in the bathroom mirror.
It should be said that the Fair Tax Mark’s CEO is such an obnoxious thundercunt, I’d be prepared to take Ritchie’s side on this one.
“Third, I do however note that none of those now managing the Fair Tax Mark on a day-to-day basis has any qualifications in or practitioner experience of accounting or taxation, let alone at an international level.”
And the difference with any other Busybody Charity that regularly passes review here is?….
And this buffoon wanted this to become a public procurement requirement. Luckily no public body was stupid enough. Bullet dodged.
Murphy claims:
“ Third, I do however note that none of those now managing the Fair Tax Mark on a day-to-day basis has any qualifications in or practitioner experience of accounting or taxation”
Interesting; from the Fair Tax Mark website:
“Jaime Boswell – Head of Accreditation
Jaime comes from an accounting and taxation background, with professional qualifications and experience in both. Over the last decade, he has worked for a range of accountancy firms – from small family businesses to one of the top ten accountancy firms – and has experience working with a variety of clients, from small sole traders to big plc corporates.”
Is their website out of date? Or perhaps the Head of Accreditation doesn’t meet Murphy’s definition of “ managing … on a day-to-day basis” (although Murphy himself wasn’t full time either, was he?). Or perhaps he just doesn’t meet Murphy’s exacting standards!
He’s fallen out with the Fair Tax Mark and the Tax justice Network in the same year!
“Third, I do however note that none of those now managing the Fair Tax Mark on a day-to-day basis has any qualifications in or practitioner experience of accounting or taxation, let alone at an international level.”
According to their website, their staff and technical advisory group includes accountants, chartered tax advisors and an ex HMRC inspector.
They’ve refused to take his advice or more likely to pay him.
IANAL, but if he just left the organisation, why is he constrained by law? I’d have thought he’d be delighted to be a whistle-blower! The most likely answer that I can think of is that he’s been paid off. Why, I wonder….?
Nick, is it possible that he wrote some kind of constraint into all the original employment contracts to protect himself from ex employees or partners telling the world what a monstrously inept turd he is? And he’s just been hoist by his own self serving petard?
Your regular reminder that the FTM business plan from February 2014 said they would have 350 accredited companies in the first 3 years.
Currently at 67.
Excellent news. Made my day.
The only danger is that, with Murphy gone, the Fair Tax Mark might actually become effective.
