One way of putting it

In 1984 she embarked on what would be her longest-lasting marriage. Her sixth husband was Marc Rosen, vice-president of Elizabeth Arden, the cosmetics company. He survives her. Dahl, ever witty, said of their betrothal: “I have had an active past. Marc’s getting a great bargain. I am tested and approved.”

  1. I suppose it depends on what happened to her first five husbands…

If they all died with silly grins on their faces from sexual excess I suppose that she’s correct in her contention. However, I somehow suspect that the money ran out before the stamina.

  2. I thought she had died decades ago. Probably so did her husbands.

But I bet her accountants will be having a massive Wake.

  3. I loved her line about her first husband, Lex Barker, Tarzan, “the best undressed man I ever knew.” And it’s an odd trick of memory that I remember seeing her in movies I’ve forgotten all about.

  4. Dennis, The Pauline Kael of Central Ohio

And it’s an odd trick of memory that I remember seeing her in movies I’ve forgotten all about.

Nothing odd about it. She was a serviceable but unmemorable actress acting in serviceable but unmemorable films. If she’d been born with Bette Davis’ looks she’d have peaked at dinner theater in Minneapolis.
