Good, how excellent,

We’re done then:

For the first time the world is in a position to limit global heating to under 2C, according to the first in-depth analysis of the net zero pledges made by nations at the UN Cop26 climate summit in December.

No more plans are needed then, are they?

  1. the first in-depth analysis of the net zero pledges made by nations

A lot of goats must have given up their entrails in the process of that one.

  2. More word salad. Trying to keep up the narrative that the system is working by making up some false story that everything is going to plan. A plan which only involves those countries involved in the Cop26 drinks party.

  3. Given that this is Damian Carrington writing, the chances are overwhelmingly on the side of the plans being complete wankgabble. However, this will mean that UK politicians will be fighting for the honour of putting them into practise

  4. In other news, people who don’t know how the weather works claim that they can control it, and imply that they know what the optimum is, everywhere. Nothing but stupidity laced with hubris.

  5. Except that the “pledges” are insane, impractical, and that their goals will not be met ( and already aren’t…) ?

  6. I’ll meet the greenies half way and admit that CO2 is a greenhouse gas.
But how much? The sensitivity of the climate to increased CO2 seems pretty low, judging by 30 years of satellite temperature data.

Meanwhile the sensitivity of plants to CO2 seems pretty high, judging by increased green cover of the planet and higher crop yields.

So I’m rather in favour of more CO2, even if some ski resorts go bust.

  7. Finally figured how to turn down the big thermostat control sticking out of the side if the Planet have they?

Has the climate been asked to comment?

  8. Since Russia, China, India, Africa, the Middle East and South America have no time for such West-backed fake religions, how will they be compelled to obey the West?
Or will the rest of the world just carry on as they wish, and ignore the shrill noises from the West’s yammerheads?
Perhaps the current unpleasantness in the Ukraine might focus minds on the impossibility of this obediance being compelled?
Of course, if all these countries (and USA and Europe) are glassed, then that’s global warming sorted, yes?

  9. Yes Tim. I did like the Guardian comment that the Third World has only ‘agreed’ to this nonsense because they’ve been offered substantial bribes.

Since they haven’t been paid yet, the Third Worlders haven’t yet told us to get fucked since they’re going to do bugger all.

  10. “So I’m rather in favour of more CO2, even if some ski resorts go bust.”

Ski resorts going bust is just one of a very long list of failed predictions from the climate alarmists.

  11. Actually, lots of French ski resorts have gone bust (or otherwise abandoned), about a third of them in this analysis.

“According to data compiled by Pierre-Alexandre Metral, a PhD student at Grenoble University, 168 of the 584 ski resorts built in France since the 1930s have been abandoned, many in the last 20 years.”

But, despite the headline clip, bad management / basic supply & demand / uneconomic size etc are often the more routine explanations…
