The Henry Jackson Society can go boil its head

Alan Mendoza, executive director of the Henry Jackson Society, a pro-democracy think tank, said: “Polymetal’s productions of gold and silver is a core source of revenue for the Russian state and its profile means it is a likely target for future rounds of sanctions.

“When its auditor has pulled out of working for the firm after the invasion of Ukraine, it’s irresponsible for the LSE to continue to allow retail investors to jeopardise their savings and capitalise the firm by trading Polymetal stock.”

Fuck off, twat.

Trading in already issued shares doesn’t capitalist the company. And who the fuck are you to tell others what they may, or may not, speculate upon?

  1. Ah, but the Henry Jackson Society identifies as a “pro-democracy think tank” which means that by opposing them you are an enemy of democracy and, candidly, another one of those Putler-loving fifth columnists*

*(please let me know where to send the welcome pack and free badge? Horrorshow and spasiba)

  2. Ah, “democracy” as in “You do what I tell you”.
    Lot of it about nowadays.

See Archbishop of Canterbury. You’d have thought history might be a lesson.

I see in this case that “protecting investors” means “preventing investors do anything”.
Perhaps Mendoza is in need of protection from the hazards of breathing?

Welby *correctly* pointed out that the Rwanda solution was contrary to self-scafricial eample of Jesus.
If you hate the idea of self-sacrifice, then self-identify with overwhelming majority of humanity – but Archbishop Welby is correct in his instruction to the (now very small) minority of British Christians.
I have difficulties because I should like to destroy the people-smugglers (preferably on the end of a rope) but the only people who get hurt are their victims so how many will get hurt how badly to stop how many getting hurt how badly in the future?

  4. The HJS is a neocon outfit. Thus it is in favour of Neocon wars.

Democracy comes a long way down the list.

  5. These economic migrants crossing the channel, 70%+ fit young men, are plainly resourceful types who’ve managed to travel a long way already. I have my doubts they are all victims of these foul people traffickers and slavers, some of them surely have the wits to buy or steal their own boat. Unless their families back home are under constant menace by organised hoodlums they have a strong incentive to give the traffickers the slip.
In other words, we’re not being told the whole story here.

  6. John – Welby *correctly* pointed out that the Rwanda solution was contrary to self-scafricial eample of Jesus

I’m not familiar with the Gospel passage that says Christians need to sacrifice their children’s future to itinerant parasites who hate them, and suspect it would also be alarming news to about 99.999% of Christians who have ever lived.

But that’s OK because I’m pretty sure Justin Welby doesn’t really believe in God.

My point was not regarding the rights and wrongs of the illegal migrants being treated more strictly, thereby destroying the market for the people-traffickers.
    It was regarding democracy.
The government was elected by the people, in a fair democratic election.
Part of their platform was to do something about the flood of illegal entrants. That was the democratic wish, as demonstrated by the election result.
If you disagree, as is your right, you are free to campaign and vote for some other party: although any party that advocates no such clamp down on the people traffickers is unlikely to win much support. But go ahead, that is your right. Stand yourself, if you are so convinced.
But neither you, now Welby, nor anyone else, has the right to impose your opinion on other people because the voices in your head tell you that you are doing the will of god.
Too many at that already, from various competing “religions”, including the Gretards.
The democratic government promised to do something about it, was elected on that basis, and finally appears to be trying. Hooray. Just Ecksy-cute a few of the Home Office anti-democrats to encourage the others to do the job they are paid for, and maybe it’ll work. It did for Oz.
Perhaps Steve can lend some lions?
