At the risk of sounding paranoid, do you think that there is any sort of coordination behind this Richard?

  1. Dennis, Clear-Eyed As Always

When certain aspects of life overwhelm one’s intellectual capacity to react appropriately, the fastest and easiest solution is to assume those certain aspects of life are due to a conspiracy of others.

  2. I do think he is ‘rattled’ for sure (and in fairness to him how many from this blog have posted over there?) – but it is quite incredible despite blocking more than 20,000 on Twitter and countless other on his blog, he still remains paranoid. The policy of simply not replying seems completely alien to him.

I’m pretty sure this is about the 15th time he has mentioned something about ‘trolls’ over the years – he gets annoyed and then gradually people work their way round whatever ‘policy’ he puts in place, and he has to redo it again.

  3. “Thank you for commenting. You have not done so before, or have only done so a few times, and the tone of your comment suggests that you might be trolling. As such please now email me providing evidence that you might be the person you claim to be with evidence of a persistent pattern of posting on other social media such as Facebook or Twitter using the name that you have now used to comment here so that I might decide whether I wish to let you comment on this site. My decision on whether to then accept comments from you will be final. The more information you provide the easier it will be for me to make a positive decision. Any disclosure you make will be voluntary. You do not need to respond if you do not wish to post again.” is what he’s posting.

Surely apart from being pathetic , it might fall foul of data protection rules asking for personal information.

  4. Why would any group of people bother with a co-ordinated attack on him?

How important does he think he is?

    Actually, don’t answer that.

  5. It’s certainly why he’s shown any ability to grasp the concept of markets. Markets are a figure of speech. Otherwise, they don’t exist. Any market is he sum of the individual players within its decisions. It doesn’t think anything or do anything. All you are seeing is majorities of all those individual decisions coinciding in particular directions.

  6. I find it highly amusing that he doesn’t know what the meaning of “troll” is. A troll is not necessarily someone who disagrees with you. You can troll a debate by taking it further in a direction than the initiator intended & get the initiator to follow you to destruction.

  7. His Pilgrim geezer could be an accomplished troll. Pissing himself laughing every time he comments. Reinforcing Spud’s sense of self importance & driving him to make even more hilarious blog posts. His aim is to destroy credibility.

  8. BiS

He has always had that interpretation – He seems to be the embodiment of John Chapter 14 verse 6 (adapted slightly):

‘I am the way, and the truth and the life, noone comes to social justice except through me’

I was also pleased to see the return of a Venn Diagram – that’s when you KNOW he’s annoyed…

  9. @ VP
I have this life rule. Whenever anyone tells me anything, I ask myself why are they telling me this? What are they expecting out of it? I don’t take anybody as what they say they are. I am a deeply cynical & suspicious person. It has served me well.
I wouldn’t count on Spud being Spud® or any of his commenters holding the opinions they are giving.

  10. Dennis, Correct And Therefore Hateful

Haven’t you just described almost every aspect of his life in that short post?

    Yes. Yes I have.

The pilgrim chap – also had that suspicion from the start. I don’t look in there that much now, but too often it felt (to me) like “tongue very firmly in cheek”, even if it was then (carefully) followed up with a succession of straight bats. He’s been there a while; hence, if so, impressive…

I very rarely bother to look, so going on second-hand reports here, but if he’s kept up a spoof this long it seems to me more likely that he’s genuine. Any “jape of the decade; April, May, June, July and August fool” windup would have been paid off by now, or slowly ramped up to obviously ludicrous levels.

  13. The creatures outside Twitter looked from Murphy Richards to Richard Murphy, and from Richard Murphy to Murphy Richards, and from Murphy Richards to Richard Murphy again; but already it was impossible to say which was which

  14. BraveFart – I initially read that as Morphy Richards, so started wondering if there are potatoes roasting within the oven. But with Spud, it’s more likely to be just waffles.

  15. @moqifen, it does meant GDPR requirements. He’s informing the person what the information is used for. The choice is up to the person volunteering the information as to whether or not they proceed.

  16. I think Elon Musk is rather brighter than our Solonaceous ‘academic’. He has a thriving electric vehicle business – cars, batteries – and a very successful space launch business. You might not like his approach but he can’t really be compared to Spud in any respect.
