A ban on imports of chemical fertilisers has reduced crop yields, but it was only in place between April and November last year.
There are two seasons and harvests a year in Sri Lanka.
There are two cultivation seasons namely; Maha and Yala which are synonymous with two monsoons. Maha Season falls during North-east monsoon from September to March in the following year. Yala season is effective during the period from May to end of August.
Only April to November is entirely enough to wholly bugger one of them and also severely affect the other.
The ban on cultivation was only in place during the cultivation season, no probs!
The present heatwave demonstrates the risks of denying the reality of man-made climate change
These people never get tired of lying.
Bob Ward is a paid spin doctor for climate alarmist interests. Everything he writes should be viewed through that filter. He is also obnoxious, so using that filter too means you don’t need to pay attention to any of his utterances.
I assume that it’s Bob “fast finger” Ward, much beloved of the denizens of WUWT some years ago… He was a twattish paid global-warming shill then, and doesn’t seem to have improved.
The present heatwave – otherwise known as “summer”. This is normal weather. People seem to think “room temperature” is 15C instead of whatever is ambient for the time of year. I remember July exams in this sort of heat everyday damn year, 40 years ago!
Yes, jgh – the great English tradition that A-levels were always absolutely sweltering!

is well worth 25 minutes of your time.
“motivated by their desire for a world government run by the United Nations Security Council”
Yea glods and little fishes. Don’t they realise this means “run by Russia and China”? ? ? ? ? Are they REALLY that thick? In what universe does “global government” /not/ mean “run by the majority population of the globe”, which in this globe means China, Russia? Especially with the rider “the UN Security Council”. Go on, Cheng von Putin, we won the cold war, but you won the peace, we’ll just lie down in front of that steamroller for you.
jgh, the delusion of the Davos and Bilderberg crowd who think they are going to get a seat at the table for a piece of the pie is just amazing. Don’t they read history? Nobody knows what will happen after the reset, but it won’t be what anyone is planning now.
Rhoda – the historical solution for feral ‘elites’ is the scaffold or Madame Chop-Chop.
I think that exchange controls killed the place.
From an article one year ago
Head of Barings’ Global Sovereign Debt and Currencies Group Ricardo Adrogue added that it was encouraging though that the government seemed determined not to default.
“That is a big plus, but the (debt) numbers however are eye-opening,” highlighting how the country spent roughly 50% of government revenues on debt payments.
Sure, smashing the agricultural sector, knocking back tourism more than comparable countries, and those more stringent lockdowns which apparently prompted relocations of garment production to BAN and VIE, are all bad.
But I’m kind of with Tim that prices are information, and bloody useful too, and SL denied themselves that information that they were shitting on themselves.
Bob Ward is lying, the ban on non-organic fetilizer was lifted for a few days. Why is Prince Charles, Wills & Harry not on msm defending Sri Lanka’s green organic policy?
Omar good as always:
