Of course, it’s all about Brexit, isn’t it?

Euro nears parity with dollar as pound hits two-year low

That falling pound. Purely a destructive effect of Brexit.

That near all currencies are falling against the $ is evidence of nothing else at all, of course.

  1. Everything is about Brexit!

From a local forum here this morning…

There seems to have been a shortage fo slimline tonic for a long time now.

Does anyone know the reason for this and if or when it will become available?

Quick as a flash, the Remoaners are on the case..

Brexit, many items brought from the UK have been affected by added duty etc, making them, not profitable

The stuff is made in Nicosia or Greece FFS!

Might be the syrup. Your end they’ll be adding the water, gassing & bottling. So production UK end/transport. But the duty will be trivial. I can remember from years ago when a bar mixer machine dispensed at 50p a time, the syrup cost was about 1p. Bottling plant it’ll be far less.

  3. Strong correlation: dollar strength + world economy up the creek.

But there must be someone somewhere who thinks it’s due to Uncle Joe’s economic policies.

  4. World economies are going to get worse before they get better. If things get so bad that Italy – to pick a nation at random 🙂 – were to default, where does that leave the eurozone, can they afford a Greek bailout x10? (Spoiler alert – NO.) Where does that leave major German banks? I’d be short on euros.

Presumably a Brit ex-pat forum? It occurs, I’ve known a lot of Cyps & never known any of them drink slimline tonic. So maybe the Cyps have stopped ordering it. Vile stuff anyway. Only fit for Brits & WGAF about them?
