There’s just no helping some people

Sigh.

  1. Do I get the impression “Jordan” is of the school of economics that believes that money can be conjured from nothing, with no detriment to inflation or currency stability?

  2. I confess that I don’t keep up-to-date on matters Twitter-related these days, but I thought Jordan preferred to be called Katie Price these days…..

  3. Interesting twist from the Big Rock Candy Mountain crew to accuse the rest of us of being “unfamiliar with reality”. But then, that’s the thing with delusions: you think they’re real.

  4. Jordan obviously works for the Fed or the Treasury.

Or he’s a road sweeper and probably a very silly one

  5. There’s no arguing with these guys – they are determined to return you to at the very best the 19th century (And as Pcar points out probably a lot earlier) You will travel as and when they want you to.
Seriously delusional beings. I’ve found it an exercise in futility even attempting to debate with them!

  6. I wonder if one could put a value on his time. Obviously doesn’t run to a decent haircut. Retro 70s is so passé

  7. You’re arguing with people the world’s ignorant on Twitter.

    What were you expecting?

Yep, TPTB want us back to pre coal & industrial revolution, many even want pre-iron age

The industrial revolution Johnson lamented on at CoP26 and apoligised for UK exporting it to RoW

Followed by 50 something Minister for CoP crying on stage when China & India refused to cut coal. I assume he’s now in psych ward as France & Germany now increasing coal use
    .

    On Jordan, this nails it

Strawman, much? Can I have the freedom to live as low-impact as I can, using post-industrial knowledge to help? Then you can see my example and voluntarily follow, as you wish?

  10. Can I say likewise, Boganboy?

Doesn’t society owe me a basic income because until the Lockean Proviso is restored, your only justification for enclosure is might makes right?

  11. Who are you planning to steal your “basic income” from, rsm? For your sake, I hope they’re not well armed. For my sake, I hope they are.

  12. Well rsm. I’d be happy to say that you owe me a basic income.

But I certainly don’t agree that I owe you anything.

Are you prepared to go without pain killers, antibiotics and life extending drugs?

  14. ‘Can I have the freedom to live as low-impact as I can’

Why would I accept the presumption that you do anything of that sort?

The only folks that live anything like effeciently are very rural folks I know, and they’re the most opposed to enviro nonsense.

I’m yet to meet an enviro nut that isn’t a grotesquely wasteful git. But they have no concept of how ineffective and wasteful they are because they have a very limited concept of how things are made in the first place.

But they think they’re being good in their own mind, and that’s all that matters to them.

  15. rsm @ 1.06 “Can I have the freedom to live as low-impact as I can, using post-industrial knowledge to help?

Please tell who has, or seeks to, deprive you of this freedom? Or are you just like the rest of us and have the freedom, only you choose not too utilise it?

  16. “There’s no arguing with these guys”

It’s worth arguing with people like this on Twitter because you will reach people like me who want to learn about economics and how to present persuasive arguments about economics. It’s not all about point scoring and changing the mind of your interlocutor.

  17. rsm “…using post-industrial knowledge…”
    and what would that be?
So many who think they are ‘lowe impact’ but are really utterly dependent on the developed industrial world to live their fantasy.

  18. @rsm
Strawman, much? Can I have the freedom to live as low-impact as I can

Why ask? You have the freedom to live as you want, you’re free to go off-grid and forage. The problem is the life you say you want to live is being imposed on those who don’t want that life
