One of the Observer’s star columnists has been suspended following allegations over his conduct in the wake of a row about trans rights with the campaigning lawyer Jolyon Maugham.
Nick Cohen’s weekly column has been put on hold while the allegations are investigated, according to the newspaper’s publisher, Guardian News and Media (GNM).
Mr Maugham took issue with one of the journalist’s columns last year, accusing him of complaining “about the cancellation of transphobes”.
Having failed in most of those challenges to the government and other ghastly rightists the tosser turns the guns on fellow lefies. Cohen, being something closer to a classical liberal than is generally true of Britain’s current left wing is an obvious target.
I repeat my opinion of Soapy Joe – this is all Daddy issues. Having made his lucre as a tax barrister he’s now after the gong. To be one up on the father who abandoned.
Cohen has been becoming increasingly deranged as time goes on too. I have stopped reading him in the Speccie. He’s gone the same ga ga route as Simon Jenkins.

Agree with Otto regarding Cohen – a sad end. The demise of him since the eclipse of a Corbyn has been pretty severe. Nevertheless, Maugham is arguably on a par with Owen Jones or even Murphy as an asshole extraordinaire – just utterly bereft of any redeeming features. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him in receipt of some lucre from Klaus Schwab. He’s that much of a C*&t.
I’ve always wondered how to pronounce his name. Is it Joy Lion or Jol Oon. And is it Mah Ham or Mag Ham. It always been so confusing I just resort to Twat.

Interesting that Cohen is not being cancelled for insufficient respectfulness towards deranged sex-perverts. He’s being cancelled for demonstrating insufficient intolerance towards people who are insufficiently respectful of deranged sex-perverts. Trannies are a tiny, vulnerable, helpless minority but you can lose your job if you don’t hate JK Rowling.
The absurdity of a grown man with professional responsibilities living in a complex technological society trying to destroy another man’s livelihood over the vital question of deranged sex-pervertry goes unremarked on in the article, but Shirley this is the story?
