At its core the most troubling issue that we face is that Liz Truss is simply not a credible politician. She says nothing, commits to nothing, has never delivered an identifiable policy of consequence, and is clearly driven by dogma. Her indifference to redistribution proves that.
Note that if you do not share Spud’s dogmatic attachment to redistribution then you are driven by dogma for not sharing his dogma.
Does he just write the first thing that comes into his head? (Answer:apparently.) If she says nothing, commits to nothing, has never delivered an identifiable policy of consequence, how can he tell she’s driven by dogma?
Can I have a list of credible politicians? Seems like an oxymoron to me, but never mind. Any nation or party will do.
Murphy’s views are driven by dogma and often expressed in a form of doggerel: in tedious, long, numbered lists.
She commits to nothing, has never delivered an identified policy – but she’s also driven by dogma?
Bravefart
The late Peter Bauer shared that trait – delivering things in ‘list form’ (at least verbally) – the difference (among many) is that Bauer’s utterances were staggering in their level of insight and quite literally transformative of a debate. Murphy’s by contrast are staggering in their complete lack of insight and deform any serious debate of an issue…
Well she has been Foreign Secretary and just become the leader of her party and the new PM
Presumably that makes her a little bit credible?
Whereas SpudUDontLike…..
It’s a wonder his head hasn’t exploded (mashed itself?), with all the conflicting nonsense it contains. Cognitive Dissonance x 100: the poor fellow must struggle to make a cup of tea with all those bats in his belfry.
It’s no secret that he is a massive misogynist. So no surprise that he doesn’t like Truss.
All of his postings sound like someone’s 15-year-old son withdrawing from the crowd at a dinner party his parents dragged him to, and sulking in the corner because the girl from two houses down is talking to the captain of the football team instead of him, and all he can muster is, “Doesn’t she realize? He doesn’t even know who Radiohead are!”
“says nothing, commits to nothing, has never delivered an identifiable policy of consequence,”
That is the whole bloody point of being a successful career politician…
Sheesh.. P³ can’t even get that one right…
Asking for a friend… does Murphy believe he will benefit from redistribution or will he contribute towards it?
Meet the new boss:
she would only allow fracking to happen with the backing from local communities.
So, no fracking then.
But the good news is, the last person to leave Britain no longer needs to remember to turn off the lights.
Indifference proves she is driven by dogma?!?
Indifference actually shows that she is NOT driven by *anything* on that subject.
Dunno, Steve. SPI-B (the nudge unit) may be cooking up some dastardly Tory plot to decriminalise onshore gas exploration as we speak.
Not much point in subsidising your gas bill if there ain’t no gas this winter, eh?
Philip – We can live in hope, eh?
The danger of subsidising energy costs before it even gets to the consumer – like wot shitty tinpot dictatorships run by Middle Eastern colonels or evil Bob Carolgees do – is that people will very quickly come to feel entitled to taxpayer-subsidised energy while the eye-watering costs of that will be invisible to them. It’ll go from an emergency measure to yooman rights innit? in about ten seconds flat, maybe we can tap the rotational force of Friedrich Hayek’s grave for energy?
As we’ve already seen, the British government is run by fat pussies who can’t even tell semi-literate premiership footballers to piss off when they demand schools provide “free” catering services to children who aren’t even in school. Wonder what the exit plan for massively subsidised leccy will be, lol.
So the Tories shouldn’t bank on this winning them the next election. But you can probably imagine what larks Labour would have with this type of energy socialism.
Though our situation is dire and we have no good options in the short term, so whatevs. But I don’t think Trussy is going to fix anything, the Tories have been in government for 12 years so why start now? In related news, Priti Patel just resigned, while praising her own magnificent achievements on immigration. You could make this stuff up, but nobody would believe you.
“Why is everybody so fucking stupid?” – Kim Jong Il
Steve, I would like some concrete proof of your assertion that “the Tories have been in government for 12 years”.
It seems to me we have been in a Labour / Dumb Lib / quasi Conservative, socialist nightmare since 1997.
Everything he writes is merely a job application to the labour party. Unfortunately, he’s too thick to notice that Corbyn and McDonnell are no longer in charge.
I hope this works out well for you right-pondians. We are stuck with Emperor Joe Palp-a-teen for the next two years. Those who think he will not last that long haven’t seen Weekend at Bernie’s.
Ed P:
His head has not exploded because it can only fit one idea at a time. When a new idea comes in, it displaces the current one.
Probably why he uses lists; otherwise his columns would be unpublishable even by the Grauniad.
A PM who won’t enact any policies? Now there’s an idea I could get behind.
