Depends really – I mean I support paedophiles and so do you

A trustee of the transgender charity Mermaids resigned last night after it emerged that he had spoken at a conference hosted by an organisation that promotes services to paedophiles.

Dr Jacob Breslow was a graduate student in gender research at the London School of Economics when he gave a presentation at an event for the US-based B4U-ACT in 2011.

According to its website, B4U-ACT promotes services and resources “for self-identified individuals . . . who are sexually attracted to children and desire such assistance”.

Depends what is meant by “services to”. If it’s free train fares to Bradford and a few phone numbers then no, that would not be something any of us would support.

On the other hand, sexuality is innate. Or even if it is learned in childhood, makes no difference to the following point. So, there are adults who are sexually attracted to pre-pubescents. This is simply a fact about the world.

That attraction is not a moral failing on their part, it’s not a mark of Cain, it’s not the third tit of witchery. It’s simply a fact.

What matters is what they do about their attraction. If they take those trains to Bradford then perhaps we should introduce them to the surgical experts at the Tavistock. If they struggle mightily and are able to repress their sexuality on the grounds that despite how they’re made the acting out is a vile crime then, well, then what?

We support them in that difficulty, don’t we?

Human sexuality encompasses rape fantasies but it’s the act of rape that gets you jugged, not the thought or attraction. Freud might be complexly right or wrong about Oedipus and or Elektra but it’s patricide/matricide and incest which are the crimes, not psychological make up.

It all depends upon what those services being offered were. Given the modern world I do expect it to be a discussion of ticket prices to Bradford. But that doesn’t change the above point in the slightest. Being sexually attracted to children is something that does require help and services – because the crime is the acting out. It’s paedophile acts, not thoughts, which are the crime.

  1. My guess is that Breslow annoyed someone in the organisation or was an unwitting obstacle to the change they desired, so they scoured his profile looking to see if they could make any of the current boo-words fit.

    Racist/terf/homophobe/far right/sexist/denier of summat/Christian/classist/Zionist/etc, etc.

If they want to get you, they usually can.

I listened to a This American Life podcast some years ago about a young man who set up an organisation like this one, it may be the same one. I can’t remember his name and and can’t be bothered researching.

He realised something was wrong when he was about 15 and found he was still attracted to younger girls, not his peer group. He discussed it with his mother who was at first shocked but then agreed to help and took him to a psychiatrist. The first was so appalled that she refused to see him but he eventually found one to help.

Long story short, he found that the only way to get support that wasn’t judgemental to help him not act on his urges was through self help and set up a group. At the time of the programme he was mid to late 20s IIRC and the group appeared to be quite successful in stopping harm to children.

  3. Mermaids have enough on their revolting plate without seeming identifiably sympathetic to PIE of cursed memory.

  4. Hmm ..

Jacob Breslow. @jlbreslow. Associate Prof of Gender & Sexuality. Feminist, trans, queer, critical race + childhood studies.

I am an Associate Professor of Gender and Sexuality at the London School of Economics Department of Gender Studies. My primary area of research is on contemporary U.S. social justice movements, and the ways in which the idea of childhood operates within and against them. Specifically, this work interrogates and thinks with Black Lives Matter, transfeminism, queer youth activism, and anti-deportation movements

By chance I read that in full just before coming here. Your assumption is correct, it is not good. Breslow is definitely not nice.

  6. BiND – apparently, the founder of B4U-Act was a not-particularly-repentant child rapist:

But while B4U-Act postures itself as a respectable advocacy group, much of what it advocates for is the destigmatization of pedophilia. Though the organization argues that destigmatization would empower those who are sexually attracted to children to seek support and therapy, its pedophile founder explicitly stated it had far more nefarious goals.

In 2009, founder Michael Melsheimer advised his fellow pedophiles that the new approach would be focused around garnering public sympathy by falsely claiming the intention was to prevent child sexual abuse by humanizing pedophiles. Screenshots of the exchange were taken where Melsheimer was interacting with “boylovers” on the pedophile forum Boy Chat.

Some pedophiles on Boy Chat were concerned B4U-Act would covertly attempt to prevent them from engaging in sexual relations with children. To those members, Melsheimer asserted: “Be assured you will find no current reference to the prevention of offending. You can take that to the bank.”

During the discussions, it was revealed that Melsheimer had sought approval for his endeavor from the founders of the infamous pederast activist group, the North American Man/Boy Love Association (NAMBLA).

Today, B4U-Act continues to promote pedophilia as a legitimate sexual orientation or identity, and directly affirms that it does not seek to reduce or eliminate sexual attraction towards children or even encourage pedophiles to go to therapy. The organization also has campaigned to change and ultimately eliminate the Diagnostic and Statistics Manual (DSM) entry on pedophilia.

As for Breslow, well, he has form:

At the organization’s 2011 symposium, Breslow read from a paper in which he compared molesting a child to masturbating on a shoe.

But Breslow’s disturbing history with pro-pedophile sentiment does not stop there.

In 2016, Breslow submitted his PhD thesis, in which he argued some kids are “queer.” This led to a later paper he published in 2020 titled “Flirting with the Islamic State: Queer Childhood with a Touch of Contemporary Sexual Politics.”

The article describes itself as “unpacking the sexual touch of the radicalized discourses of so-called grooming, it opens up new ways of understanding the relationship between childhood sexuality, sexual abuse, and contemporary sexual politics.”

Most recently, last year Breslow published a book titled “Ambivalent Childhoods: Speculative Futures and the Psychic Life of the Child.”

Breslow described the book as exploring “the queer life of children’s desires.” One chapter, titled “Desiring the Child,” opens with a description of a 12-year-old child dancing and mimicking sex acts to a crowd of adults.

“As his movements transition from those that mimic break-dancers to those that mimic sex acts, repeating the easily citational gesticulations of pelvic thrusts … I find myself caught up in exhilarating waves of memory, identification, and desire … a desire for him himself,” Breslow writes.

So Mermaids are saying it’s ok to fly your little boy to Thailand to have him castrated, as long as you don’t fancy him. “¯\_(ツ)_/¯”

Nope. Here I disagree with Steve and others. Lions are too good for these fuckers.

They need a Los Zetas approach, with stimulants + medical support and slow, gradual cutting off of extremities over days to weeks. Don’t want them dying of shock early, do we?

  8. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

It makes one wonder if the reason for pushing for the expansion of the gay and transgender rights movement to include a plethora of sexualities and gender identities was simply to find a way of giving political and legal protection to nonces.

  9. “PIE of cursed memory”: I remember vaguely that Harriet Harman was associated with that. So were several other lefty Labour women. I can’t remember who. The Aussie woman who became (I think) Health Secretary – was she one, or am I mistaken? It all seems so long ago. They did their supporting of PIE via that old Commie front organisation, the NCCL.

  10. NCCL bods Patricia Hewitt, Harriet Harman and Jack Dromey. The last named is being examined by a higher court.

  11. It makes one wonder if the reason for pushing for the expansion of the gay and transgender rights movement to include a plethora of sexualities and gender identities was simply to find a way of giving political and legal protection to nonces.

Pretty much the case, I think, especially when you consider the social consequences for questioning any of that shit.

It’s going to be interesting to see how much they can get away with. They keep sending out little reconnaissance probes (minor attracted persons, etc.) to test the waters, but so far the resistance to overt noncery is strong. But the acceptance of the mutilation of young bodies and the destruction of futures for the sake of such obvious toss is disappointing and disturbing.

As to comeuppance, lions and other cruel and unusual punishments might lead to martyrdom.
There was a movie of unpleasant events in Russia at the end of the Soviet Union. When finally caught, the murdering pedo was led into a grim little area covered in ceramic tiles with a drain in the floor, and an officer calmly placed a pistol to the back of his head with just a little cold barrel slide, and fired.

  12. PJF – But the acceptance of the mutilation of young bodies and the destruction of futures for the sake of such obvious toss is disappointing and disturbing.

    We are the new Carthage.

JG – Lions are too good for these fuckers.

Cats are too good for people in general. Take Hitler, for example: he definitely wasn’t a felid.

Nothing in his bio suggests he’s anything other than normal.

  14. So, long story short – he’s a fucking nonce and an apologist for noncery. Never mind Mermaids – the amount of tranny/nonce crossover is staggering* – why the fuck does he have gig at the LSE which allows him to promote noncery?

    * I have long maintained that a deep dive into the hard drives of trans activists would lead to them being shut up and banged up rather rapidly. However, enemy of the people that he is, Plod is more concerned with pronouns and nonce rights than protecting children.

  15. Recall one book where they had a modern day oubliette for the people the mob boss didn’t like.

Electrical stimulus to keep muscles in shape, feeding tubes etc, permanent lights and mirrored internal surfaces. Just a suggestion of course

  16. Why does a School of Economics need a Department of Gender Studies?

Because there’s shit tons of money to be made by transitioning people.
About $2m per victim patient. Iirc

Although, out of all the subjects, economics is the most likely to produce something useful out of studying gender. Studying the difference between spending habits of men and women.
Would be interested to see how the shopping habits of trans people are?
Do mtf spend hours traipsing between shops to compare three pairs of shoes?
Do ftm go to B&Q, and spend hours comparing power tools, just to buy the most powerful variant?
